Keeping In Touch, Volume 2
Greetings!

Tutor ID Number: {ID Number}

We aren’t sure when it will feel like ordinary times again. In keeping with the recommendations and regulations from state and local agencies, LDP’s tutoring programming remains on hold.

During this time, when face-to-face tutoring is suspended we are interested in learning if you and your learner are working remotely. And if you are, how are you doing it?  Please take this short 5 question survey .

We will continue to communicate with you weekly with updates and information.

Please take care of yourself and stay healthy.

In this volume, you will find useful activity-based websites that you may find helpful in using with your learner.

Stay well,

Carol Garcia

US Census 2020
ProLiteracy has partnered with the National Literacy Coalition to share teaching resources for the US Census 2020 count.  Please visit  https://proliteracy.org/Resources/2020-Census  for free on-line Census lessons and materials, webinars, instructional links and much more.
Some Activity-based Website Suggestions:
  • USA Learns This is a great website. The topics are organized into typical adult life skill units. Each lesson includes a video for listening practice. The student can listen only or listen and read the transcript. Each lesson also develops and practices useful vocabulary and grammar. This is free but requires registration with an email and password. Works well on iPads, Kindles and other larger screens. It isn’t as accessible/useful on cell phone screens.  www.usalearns.org
  • News for you Online This is a terrific weekly online newspaper publication for intermediate and above adult learners that uses current event articles and human interest stories to engage learners’ interest while building skills in listening, reading, comprehension and vocabulary. Literacy DuPage has a subscription to News for you Online. The LDP password to access the account is 30C27B. You may share this code with your learner. https://www.newreaderspress.com/news-for-you-online
  • ESL VIDEO This site is organized by level of difficulty ( beginning, low intermediate, intermediate, high intermediate, and advanced) and provides videos for students to improve their listening, speaking, grammar, and vocabulary skills. With each video, there are quiz activities and lessons. https://www.eslvideo.com/
  • Reepworld These interactive story lessons cover topics related to work, family, and health and provide visual, listening, reading, and lifeskill practice.  http://www.reepworld.org/englishpractice/
