Greetings, Tutors!
People get excited when February comes for lots of reasons. Some people love Valentine’s Day. Presidents’ Day means a three-day weekend. Others feel like spring is around the corner. Some just love the deep freeze. This newsletter is filled with resources for Groundhog Day, Valentine’s Day, and Presidents’ Day. We hope you and your learner enjoy learning about these special days together.

English Conversation Groups
ESL Conversation Groups offer an informal and friendly environment for adults at an intermediate or above level to practice their English listening and speaking skills.

Literacy DuPage is currently offering six virtual (ZOOM) ESL Conversation Groups. Although these groups are hosted by the following partner libraries, they are open to anyone in DuPage County.

COVID-19 Vaccine Update for DuPage County from the DuPage Federation: 
 
  1. The State of Illinois prioritized vaccination phases, authorizing vaccination among those front-line essential workers and older adults in Category 1b.
  2. DuPage County Health Department reminds residents that demand for vaccination is high, and although vaccine production continues, supply is limited.
  3. The COVID-19 weekly update from the DuPage County Health Department is a most valuable tool to be prepared for vaccination. As a community member, you are encouraged to sign-up and receive an update every Friday. https://dupagehealth.jotform.com/200694254415049.
  4. Register for information about vaccine availability www.dupagehealth.org/covid19vaccine 
  5. Explore all vaccine options:
  • If you have a primary health care provider, make sure that your relationship and electronic records are up to date.
  • Federally Qualified Health Care Centers provide free and low-cost care. https://findahealthcenter.hrsa.gov/, The FQHCs in DuPage County, include Access Community Health Network, VNA Health Care, Hamdard Healthcare, and Pillars Community Health.
  • Free and Charitable Clinics provide free and low-cost care. Visit https://www.illinoisfreeclinics.org/clinic-search/clinic-directory/ to identify free or low-cost service near you.
  • For DuPage County residents who have low incomes but are not eligible for Medicaid or the Affordable Care Act because of age and citizenship status, Access DuPage can arrange health services, including primary care, specialty care, medication access, and hospital services. Visit www.accessdupage.org or call (630)510-8720 to enroll or be connected to an enrollment site.
  • Ask your pharmacy about registration with their system.
