With Thanksgiving in the United States and the festivities of Christmas celebrated across the globe, many of us will be getting into the shopping spirit. Whether online or in a mall, this is a good time to get your student talking about shopping. There is no shortage of vocabulary, expressions, and phrases when it comes to the theme of shopping and the linking topics including sales and discounts, types of stores, and the number of products that society needs versus wants. Have your student talk about the culture of shopping in their country and discuss the similarities and differences.
Libraries are important community institutions for our students to learn about. Use the resources in this newsletter to introduce the library services specific to your student’s home library and the related vocabulary and practices.
