PC(USA) webinar offers up ways to extend a radical welcome to all God’s children

LOUISVILLE — Radical welcome, defined as “the spiritual practice of embracing and being changed by the gifts, presence, voices and power of The Other: the people systemically cast out or marginalized within a church, denomination and/or society,” was the focus Wednesday of a webinar put on by the Presbyterian Mission Agency’s Office of Gender, Racial & Intercultural Justice. University of Dubuque Theological Seminary announces two new master of arts programs

Coursework for master’s degrees in Reformed theology and ministry begins in August

DUBUQUE, Iowa — The University of Dubuque Theological Seminary says a pair of new Master of Arts programs will be offered beginning later this year.

Beginning in August, the seminary is teaming with Theology Matters to offer a new Master of Arts in Reformed Theology. The fully accredited 36-credt degree, funded in part by Lilly Endowment Inc., will focus on a Reformed understanding of the Scriptures, study of classic texts and practices valued by the Reformed tradition, and congregational ministry. Instructors will include members of UDTS faculty and pastor-scholars whose knowledge has been tested in the academy and significant pastoral ministry. Read more.

LOUISVILLE -- Church Leadership Connection (CLC) has been bringing call seekers, congregations, mid councils and other church groups together to fill open calls since 1995. This spring, the denomination’s internet-based matching and referral system is finalizing a comprehensive upgrade. Not only will the new system be more efficient, it will also be more inclusive and easier to access.

Later this month, a new CLC landing page will go live on its familiar clc.pcusa.org site. Over the summer, the full transition from the old system to the new one will commence. Read more.

The Karnak Temple Complex is located in Luxor, Egypt. There, great pillars etched with hieroglyphs tell the story of Egypt’s past, recalling the feats of the pharaohs and all they built and conquered.  Walking through it is like walking through a forest of history, head craning to look up to the tops. There is another forest in Montgomery, Alabama where the pillars don’t rise up from the ground but hang overhead. These too tell a story of a nation’s past, but one many of us would rather not tell.

Good Shepherd hosts one of the few year-round depots in the nation. In the years we have operated as a kit depot we have collected, assembled, and delivered many thousands of kits worth tens of thousands of dollars. It has only been possible because of the incredible support from many churches in Nebraska, Kansas, Iowa, North Dakota, South Dakota and Minnesota as well as Presbyterian Women.

Church World Service is a humanitarian organization that works to end hunger and poverty around the world as well as provide relief during disasters. One of their programs... (read more).

Community Diaper Depot

Housed at First Presbyterian Church, Falls City, Neb., the diaper depot makes available diapers, wipes, lotion, baby wash, detergent, clothing, blankets, shoes and many other items for people in the community.

Community partner, St. Thomas Episcopal Church held a 'baby shower' to help replenish depot supplies.

First Pres. Ch. is located in Homestead Presbytery.
