Can I keep it 100 with you?
I have two goals that involve 100. I want to
1. serve 100 founding members, and
2. see 100 members and guests at lunch this week on Thursday!
For fun, I looked up the only book in the Bible that has more than 100 chapters. Here's what God said in the 100th chapter of Psalms:
"Shout for joy to the Lord; all the earth." (Psalm 100:1, NIV)
Psalm 100 is brief but powerful. It reminded me that I need to do what the first verse says: shout for joy regardless of the outcome.
Paul tells us that we plant, we water, but only God makes things grow (1 Corinthians 3:6). We are co-workers in God's service.
With that in mind, I had to ask myself how these goals for 100 serve God and if I was missing something bigger by focusing on sheer numbers instead of actual results. I even caught myself spouting off numbers in my interview with Mark Goldstein this week (see below).
It's easy to get off course and focus on the numbers, on the worldly markers of success, instead of the blessings we receive through serving God. When I
wrote on this topic a few weeks ago, I encouraged readers to get a clear perspective of what success looks like through an eternal lens rather than a worldly one.
We need goals, focus, and drive, but most importantly, we need God.
Won't it be great to converse about this with other marketplace believers and get more clarity around this topic?
Howard grew up on welfare. He started his first business out of the trunk of his car and transformed it into a multi-million dollar, turnkey enterprise. Howard's newest book, The Monday Morning Christian: How Living Out Your Faith in Business Leads to Phenomenal Success, delivers a pathway for believers to live out the purpose God has for their life.
Whether we end with 78 founding members or only 70 in attendance at lunch on Thursday, my focus will be 100 percent on seeking first the Kingdom of God and shouting for joy to the Lord regardless of the outcome. Please join me!
