Giving Back

We were pleased to recently present a $10,000 grant to Schuylkill River Greenways on behalf of the American Water Charitable Foundation. The grant will help connect those in the community to the Schuylkill River through equitable access at Reeser's Landing in Exeter Township, Berks County.

Investing in Infrastructure

From source to tap and back to the source again, our team of professionals work hard to maintain and improve our systems and facilities to keep them operating efficiently, meeting regulatory standards and delivering high quality water and wastewater service.

This year, we'll invest more than $586 million to improve our water and wastewater treatment plants and systems. That figure for the past 10 years soars to $4.2 billion – proof of your water bill at work!

PFAS Upgrades

We are proactively investing in treatment solutions for the removal of PFOS and PFOA (PFAS - Click to learn more.) from the Commonwealth’s drinking water. New United States Environmental Protection Agency regulations place significant restrictions on PFAS, but we are not waiting until the 2029 deadline to comply.

While thousands of water systems nationwide face steep challenges in meeting new EPA standards related to PFAS, we’re committed to doing our part to provide safe, high-quality drinking water to the communities we serve.

In communities like Royersford, we’ve already taken major steps, including constructing PFAS treatment systems and investing $143 million in a new water treatment plant set to begin operating in 2027.

Water Storage Tank Projects

Did you know that water storage tanks do more than just hold a surplus of water? They are also crucial for maintaining the pressure of water that arrives to your home and are important for fire prevention measures.

This year, we're investing $18.5 million to rehabilitate seven of our existing water storage tanks and to build five new ones across the state.

Shaping Tomorrow's Leaders

When it comes to the future well-being of our communities, preparing today’s youth is a top priority, particularly when it comes to crucial services like water and wastewater. To address that need, we offer various internships, including a new program for high school students, that increase awareness, provide real-world experience and attract industry talent.

We even received a 2025 Greatest Places to Intern Award from the Pennsylvania Chamber of Business & Industry.

Door-to-door Canvassing

Canvassing is one of the ways we’re able to share important information with our customers. Right now, we’re going door to door in several communities across the state to provide information on our lead service line replacement project and our H2O Help to Others customer assistance offerings.

We may be in your area next, and we look forward to meeting you!

Unfortunately, sometimes scammers present themselves as our employees or contractors. When canvassing, we make sure local municipal leadership and law enforcement are aware of our efforts. We also always wear high-visibility vests, have a sign in the windshield of our vehicles and carry a company-issued identification badge.
