KEEPING OUR EYES ON THE HORIZON | MAY 22, 2020

Remember when the phrase “How are you?” was tossed out as a greeting, like “Hello,” or “Nice to see you.”? These days, a simple “How are you?” takes on more meaning and expects an honest answer. We may be asking from six feet away or on video chat, but our physical distancing has brought us closer in many ways. The fight against the pandemic created a collective bond recognizable in each response and facial expression. Even from a distance, when we recognize fear, we can offer hope. When we see suffering, we can offer compassion. When there is joy, we can celebrate. United in Christ, we can be more present for others. With faith, we can embrace our own vulnerabilities and know the sacrifices we are making now are some of the most loving ways we can serve our community and the common good.

As we prepare to open with public Sunday liturgies for the Feast of Pentecost on Saturday May 30 at 5 pm and Sunday, May 31 at 9:15 am , please remember that we are following guidelines from the Diocese of Phoenix and state and federal health agencies. In case you missed these important documents in previous emails, please read the complete Guidelines for Preparing to Return to Public Masses from the Diocese of Phoenix.

For ALL public liturgies at the Our Lady of the Angels Church, face masks and physical distancing are required, we are sanitizing surfaces, and seating will be limited. Available seating is first come, first served. If the seating capacity in the church is filled when you arrive for the first public Sunday Mass on the weekend of May 30/31, overflow seating and the livestreaming Mass will be available in the Community Life Center with the same safety protocols.

More details and protocols for public Sunday liturgies will be available in next Friday’s email.

Public Daily Mass is offered Monday – Saturday at 8 am, with safety protocols.

Everything we are doing is precautionary, to reduce the risk of spreading COVID-19. While we cannot eliminate all risk, each of us can do our best to protect ourselves and others. The General Dispensation releasing Catholics from their Sunday obligation remains in place, giving you the freedom to participate online.
