A Message From BIA President & CEO,
Lori Holt Pfeiler
Sponsoring legislation to make it easier to work with SDGE, working with County Staff to build according to the General Plan, pushing the City of San Diego to further their housing goals, tasking Escondido to build the middle income housing we desperately need in the county, and enlightening City Councils about the shortcomings of Reach Codes, all this in the name of building more homes for families in San Diego County.
We are working in nearly every city in our region, advocating on behalf of our industry.
I love the work we do at our BIA, we, all of us, whether we are processing the plans or building the homes and apartments, we build the housing families need.

Best Structure Preservation
Best Structure Preservations is a sustainable wood preservation company for new, wood-based construction.
Today, Wood destroying organisms account for $5B worth of structural damage per year across the United States. In California, we account for more fumigations per year than the rest of the country combined.
It doesn’t need to be this way. By applying the same methods we use to preserve Native American totem poles, historical ships from the Civil War era, or utility poles – we can also preserve wood-based structures during construction and prevent wood destroying organisms and the risks and damage that come along with them.
B.E.S.T. stands for Borate Enhanced Structural Treatments and have been one of the most underutilized practices within new construction. Borates are safe, effective, and long term. They give structural framing an immune system for the lifetime of a structure, are compatible with all fasteners, and can help earn LEEDs credits.
However, the only time to protect structural framing is during construction. We’re brought in during framing and after the roof has been roughed in, and provide a 15 Year Warranty for treated materials.
A BEST Field Applied Wood Treatment increases structural integrity and the lifecycle of the raw materials we use.
