Hike With HCCA
Thursday, April 16th 10am - 2pm
Monday, June 18th, 9am - 1pm
Patuxent Branch Trail
9190 Old Guilford Road, Columbia, MD 21046

Join Harper's Choice Community Association for a breathtaking hike while experiencing some of Columbia's history.

We'll trek 4.6 miles on the Patuxent Branch Trail that leads you along the Patuxent River from Savage Park to Lake Elkhorn. Along the way are interpretive signs and the historic Guilford Pratt Truss Bridge that spans the Little Patuxent River along Old Guilford Road. The mostly paved pathway provides you with the perfect hiking or biking trail. Runners will also enjoy the variety of terrain that offers challenges for all ability levels. Wildlife is abundant, so bird watching is also a favorite pastime for users of this trail. Make sure to pack your lunch; midway through our hike we'll stop and have a leisurely meal before wrapping up the rest of the trail.

Free Spring Classical Concerts at St. Louis Church, Clarksville
St. Louis Church in Howard County hosts its last two free concerts of the season this spring with classical compositions, ranging from European to Americana styles.

The versatile Barclay Brass ensemble, St. Louis choirs and guest artists perform glorious chants of the European Renaissance masters - echoing from royalty to iconic cathedrals -- 4 p.m. Sunday, April 22.  "From Every Corner, Sing" is the theme of rarely heard and seen responsive songs and chants by performers positioned throughout the church space. The program also intersperses brief big-screen scenes illuminating the lives and times of the 16th- and 17th-century composers.

Then, violinist Destiny Mermagen and pianist Heather Adelsberger perform a violin sonata by Charles Ives, known as the Walt Whitman of American sound, and Henri Vieuxtemps' "American Bouquet," a virtuosic suite based on American folk tunes, 7:30 p.m. Friday, May 11.
Programs are free; no tickets required; ample free parking at St. Louis Church,  12500 Clarksville Pike (off Rte . 108 near Rte. 32), Clarksville. More information:  410-531-6040 or  www.stlconcertseries.org  . Donations and sponsorships accepted via  website  or by check.
