Keeping Up With LT Alumni

Donetta Gee-Wieler, Lawrence Central Class of 1996, will be a guest speaker at the Women in Leadership Virtual Forum presented by Community Health Network. Donetta serves as the Hospital Administrator and Chief Nurse Executive for the Community Heart and Vascular Hospital at Community Health Network. Donetta oversees nursing service and operations, working collaboratively with physician leaders, hospital leaders, product line leaders, and the entire nursing team to enhance clinical performance in the areas of service, quality and safety, growth, finance, and the patient experience. 
 
Janette JacksonLawrence Central Class of 1998, is Lawrence's new director of Minority and Women Business Development, appointed by Mayor Steve Collier. In March, Mayor Collier signed an executive order to create the office of Minority and Women Business Development, and Jannette was appointed on Aug. 18th. Jannette is also the Lawrence Human Resources director. Jannette will be working directly with the redevelopment commission to discuss ways of notifying minority businesses of upcoming projects in the city. Jannette grew up in Lawrence and is proud of the progress the city has made during the past 20 years. 

Ryan LynchLawrence North Class of 2002, opened LiftOff Creamery, an aviation-themed shop, on Sept. 23rd. Ryan is a Republic Airways pilot who co-owns a couple of ice cream shops in northeast Indiana. Ryan's goal was to bring a shop to his neighborhood for ice cream lovers who want to avoid parking hassles along Mass Ave. and Broad Ripple. LiftOff Creamery will offer about 20 flavors at a time, with the ability to pull from up to 100. Milkshakes, shaved ice, floats, boba tea, and Jones soda are also on the menu. Melissa (Tinsley) Evans, Lawrence North Class of 2014, graduated from Ball State University with her B.S. in 2018 and her M.S. in 2020. Melissa's thesis research was investigating alternative treatments for staphylococcus aureus infections, specifically focusing on limiting intracellular invasion of the bacteria into host cells. Melissa began her job at the Indiana University School of Medicine in July, studying the development of allergies and allergic inflammation in infants and children.
Natalie BowerLawrence North Class of 2015, recently moved to Nancy, France, to teach English at the University of Lorraine. Natalie graduated from Ball State University in May. Natalie double majored in French and Business Administration. She was heavily involved in the Ball State French Club where she spent one year as secretary, one year as vice president, and two years as the president.

Congratulations to these newlyweds! 

Congratulations to Ashley (Reed) Alspaugh, Lawrence North Class of 2009, and Brian Alspaugh as they begin their married life together. They tied the knot on Sept. 6, 2020, in Hilton Head Island, SC. The newlyweds currently live in Carmel, IN, with their 5-year-old daughter, Lyla. Ashley works as the Director of Communications for the Court of Appeals of Indiana, and Brian works as a Sales Team Leader at Total Quality Logistics.

Make Your Voice Count

Election Day is November 3rd. Did you know that the Lawrence Education Community Center (6501 Sunnyside Rd.) is an early voting site? You can early vote at this location starting Saturday, October 24th through November 1st. The voting site will be open Monday - Friday from 11 am to 7 pm and on Saturday & Sunday from 10 am to 5 pm.
Yard Sign Sisters
 
Chelsa' Lee-Samuels, Lawrence Central Class of 2011, and her sister, Jada Lee, are the sister owners and operators of the Yard Sign Sisters! Chelsa' and Jada started the company during a time of uncertainty to be a beacon of light and joy. The Yard Sign Sisters are running a promotion to benefit Lawrence Township! If you participate in the fundraiser, $10 of your order will be donated to Lawrence Township through the Lawrence Township School Foundation. In Remembrance
 
Edward R. Pickering, Lawrence Central Class of 1990, passed away March 13, 2020. Edward was a dedicated soldier and father. During three tours of duty with the Army National Guard, Edward was exposed to fire/burn pits and developed nasopharyngeal carcinoma. Edward's battle with cancer began in 2017. Edward leaves behind his parents, a sister, and his two sons.
