“For my flesh is true food, and my blood is true drink.”
--John 6:55
Dear Saint Mary Friends,

Solemnity of the Most Holy Body and Blood of Christ
Though there are many important news items to pass along to you this week, we must begin with something more important than all of them together. Sunday is the Feast of Corpus Christi, more accurately called the Solemnity of the Most Holy Body and Blood of Christ.
Yes, we’re aware of this feast every year, and yes, we know the Eucharist is the bedrock of our worship. And yet...every poll in recent years shows that this bedrock is being worn away by weakening faith and poor instruction among more and more Catholics. This is something we cannot let happen here at St. Mary’s. Please pray that the instruction of our young at home and in the parish will be vibrant and effective. Please pray that our celebration of Mass will communicate the profound and sublime mystery entrusted into our hands. Please pray that our renovated church and adoration chapel will show forth the beauty of this mystery, and please pray that each of our examples at Mass may communicate to our young people “I believe this.” Lastly, pray that the lives we live in truth, generosity and kindness have their foundation in the ultimate sacrifice of Christ’s Body and Blood for us. Two videos below communicate some of our Catholic history and belief on this great feast.

Now for a few important items in days to come:

1.      Evening Prayer Service – Friday, June 11 at 7:00 P.M. in the Hall
Bishop Caggiano has wisely asked that parishes hold an evening prayer service (Vespers) for all who have died during the pandemic. Those who died and their families suffered through an inability to visit, pray with, and say goodbye to loved ones. Funeral Masses and burials were either postponed or severely limited in attendees. Please see the notice (below) for all of the details.

2.      June 12-13 Collection for Fr. Lourderaj’s COVID Ravaged Community in India
We have been speaking with Fr. Lourderaj about ways we can help his Community in India at this difficult time. His Norbertine superiors proposed some of their specific needs. Details of those needs and how to contribute will be posted in next week’s Newsletter.

3.      Blessings and Congratulations to St. Mary School’s 8th Grade Graduation Class
Today the young men and women of our 8th grade have their Mass and Graduation Exercises. We offer them our prayers, support and best wishes as they move on to the next level of their education and formation. May the Lord bless them, protect them and lead them in his ways.

Health and many blessings,
Monsignor Royal
