Saint Joseph and Saint Patrick, Pray for us.

Dear Saint Mary Friends,

No March Holy Hour Saturday

First, an important reminder regarding an email sent earlier this week that our monthly holy hour which was to be tomorrow, has been cancelled. With apologies, there were just too many things going on Saturday, including 2 confirmations with Bishop Caggiano. We will be back up and running in April.

The Chosen - Season 4

Come join fellow parishioners for a showing of the first episodes of Season 4 of the wonderful series on Christ and the Gospel, "The Chosen" - Sunday, March 17 and Sunday March 24 at 6:30 PM in the St. Mary School Hall. This is a perfect opportunity to travel more deeply into Lent. See the informational flier in the link section at the end of this newsletter. Feel free to bring food and drink.

St. Patrick, March 17 & St. Joseph, March 19

Parishioner Bill Reilly is a long-time member of an Irish association that sponsors “Sober St. Patrick’s Day.” The group has put out a very good 3-minute video on Ireland’s great patron saint. Bill is the narrator. View 3 Minutes with St. Patrick HERE.

The Solemnity of Saint Joseph, Husband of Mary, is of high importance in the Catholic Church- believe it or not, even higher than that of Saint Patrick. Any reflection on Saint Joseph’s vocation and mission in life should lead to a deeper appreciation of him, God's grace, and Joseph’s role in the Church.

We’re familiar with the Memorare to Mary, but there is also the Memorare to St. Joseph

Let's conclude with the great hymn “Lorica” (St. Patrick’s Breastplate). The words are said to be written by the saint, himself. HERE is a haunting musical rendition. The Irish Gaelic may seem incomprehensible to most of us, but the music and the translation more than make up for that. I recommend it for your meditation.

Blessings,

Msgr. Kevin T. Royal

Pastor
