Dear Friends,
We are deeply encouraged by the support for the launch of our See You at the Y campaign. Over 100 people joined us at our kickoff event in May, and I’m truly humbled by the many others who have reached out with enthusiasm to help build a more connected, compassionate Greater Boston.
Through these bi-monthly updates, I look forward to sharing the meaningful ways we are bringing people together—creating spaces where everyone is seen, valued, and celebrated. Together, we are not only strengthening our communities but also addressing the growing challenges of loneliness and isolation by ensuring no one has to navigate life alone.
As always, I continue to welcome your inspiration, ideas and commitment to the campaign, so please reach out at any time.
Yours in Partnership,

Boston Police YMCA Camp Scholarships: Building Trust, Creating Opportunity
On June 11, YMCA of Greater Boston leaders met with the Boston Police Department to launch our annual summer camp partnership. The Boston Police Camp Scholarships program fosters meaningful connections between local law enforcement and at-risk youth, creating pathways to trust, mentorship, and opportunity.
Each summer, Boston police officers and social workers engage directly with families - going door-to-door to identify young people who would benefit most from a fully funded YMCA summer camp experience. The program provides more than just access to camp - it offers youth a safe, structured space to stay active, connected, and engaged, helping them avoid isolation and build positive relationships.

Building Community, One Game at a Time
To spark conversation and connection, all YMCA of Greater Boston centers are now equipped with Connect Four games - a simple, fun way to bring people together. Whether you're playing with a friend or starting a game with someone new, these shared moments help foster a sense of belonging and community.
Keep an eye out for our Connect Four public activations across Greater Boston this summer - interactive events designed to get people talking, laughing, and connecting. At the Y, we believe that healthier communities start when we slow down, engage, and truly see one another.
Watch our CEO, David Shapiro and Boston Police Commissioner play Connect Four.
