A message from Mayor Lane
A s our nation faces the current public health emergency, Plain City residents should know that the Village government, in concert with our local and state partners, is proactively managing operations to ensure that the public health and safety of the community is protected. Village Council took the prudent step, a few weeks ago, to declare an emergency in the Village in order to provide Village officials the operational and budgetary flexibility to mitigate the current crisis locally. This was as much of a preemptive act as anything. The nature of this public health emergency is one that may lead to staffing issues and logistical problems, over the course of several months. The declaration allows, if needed, the Village to take all necessary measures to ensure that public safety and public utility operations continue without disruption. It will allow staff, for instance, to enter into temporary mutual aid compacts, accept federal and state funding, and hire temporary staff.

Village officials are in close contact with emergency management agencies so that local efforts are coordinated with those of the state. The Village has taken all available steps to mitigate operational risks to public safety and utility operations. The safety and health of the community is the Village’s primary concern as we all do our part to fight this epidemic. As Mayor, I want to thank our residents and businesses in advance for doing their part to help in our collective fight in the weeks to come. Everyone who follows social distancing practices and other public health recommendations is doing their part as we, together, navigate these difficult times. Keep up the good work! Together we will come through this unfortunate situation stronger as long as we all work together and do our parts to protect ourselves and our neighbors.

Careers & Committees
The work we do impacts the residents of the Village of Plain City. If you have a calling towards public service, please check out our open positions and committee needs.
Meet Regina, your Public Utilities Clerk
Most residents know this smile but don't know much about her. Regina sits at the Public Utilities desk keeping the department running. Recently the Village went through a software change, that most of you were aware of. Regina worked diligently to resolve the hiccups that come with any new software implementation to make sure your water bills were accurate and online payment capabilities were returned to the residents.
Regina spends lots of quality time with her 3 grandchildren and enjoys crocheting in her spare time.
The next time you see Regina, say Hi and thank her for her hard work.

Plain City Police
The Plain City Police Department remains committed during this pandemic crisis to provide our citizens with the best service possible. We will remain visible in the community and will work closely with our public safety and public health partners to protect our residents and our officers. This is all “new uncharted territory” but the Police Department has had plans and procedures in place since 2007 to address pandemic issues. There are many aspects to our plan, including suspending previously approved leave requests, the possibility of mandated overtime, 12 hour shifts and many other safety related measures. One of those measures is to restrict physical response to calls for service where possible. We may elect to take certain lower priority reports over the phone. Obviously, we will always respond to emergencies, disturbances and offenses of violence. We have temporarily suspended all of our community outreach programs. Please take precautions to protect yourselves and families. Be sure to wash your hands often and stay healthy
