MAKING MEMMORIES SINCE 1955

Hello Veronica,

This past weekend I drove to PA to visit family and I listened to a few podcasts while doing that eight and a half hour ride. One in particular had me thinking about our ABC membership. Its a podcast called On Purpose with Jay Shetty. It is called This mindset will instantly make you more successful than 90% of people. At first, I was thinking, yeah right, but I listened because I do like Jay Shetty, and what he says is always very helpful and inspiring.

If you click on the link above, it will take you directly to the Spotify episode. He speaks about patterns and how and why to recognize them to leverage for success. He also speaks on why we need to stop wasting time on the wrong things. Lastly, there is great information about how to build confidence by observing success strategies. This is the part that made me think of our membership.

In our leadership teams, we are always trying to figure out HOW TO CHANGE THE MEMBERS' MINDSET FOR SUCCESS, and I think Jay and his podcast guest just gave us the answer. Check it out and let me know your thoughts!

The Importance of Member Involvement & Upholding The Standard of Excellence

The Association of Bridal Consultants (ABC) has long been recognized as a leader in the wedding industry, setting the bar for professionalism, education, and ethical standards. At the core of this commitment is our Standard of Excellence, a guiding principle that ensures our members maintain the highest level of service and integrity. However, upholding these standards requires more than just membership—it demands active involvement and engagement.

Why Member Involvement Matters

As an ABC member, your participation shapes not only your own success but also the reputation and strength of our entire organization. Here’s why getting involved is essential:

Enhancing Professional Growth By actively engaging in ABC’s educational programs, networking events, and mentorship opportunities, members can continuously improve their skills, stay informed about industry trends, and position themselves as experts in the field.

Strengthening Industry Standards Every interaction you have—with clients, vendors, and fellow professionals—reflects on the ABC community. When you embody the Standard of Excellence, you reinforce the credibility of the wedding planning profession and ensure that ABC remains a trusted authority in the industry.

Building Meaningful Connections Membership in ABC opens doors to invaluable relationships. By attending chapter meetings, conferences, and online discussions, you foster collaborations that can lead to business growth and opportunities you may not have encountered otherwise.

Giving Back to the Industry True leadership is about contribution. Volunteering for ABC initiatives, mentoring newer planners, or speaking at educational events allows you to share your expertise while strengthening the foundation of our organization.

Making the Standard of Excellence a Priority

The Standard of Excellence is more than a concept—it’s a commitment that should be evident in every aspect of your work. Here’s how you can integrate it into your professional journey:

Commit to Lifelong Learning: Participate in ABC’s certification programs, webinars, and conferences to enhance your knowledge and skills.

Uphold Integrity and Ethics: Always conduct business with honesty, transparency, and professionalism.

Deliver Outstanding Client Experiences: Strive to exceed expectations and create memorable moments for every couple you work with.

Engage with Fellow Members: Share insights, collaborate on projects, and support your peers in upholding these high standards.

Get Involved

Your role in ABC is more than just holding a membership—it’s about being an active participant in shaping the future of the wedding industry. Whether it’s attending an event, contributing to our blog, or volunteering within your local chapter, every effort you make strengthens the association and elevates our collective impact.

By staying involved and embracing the Standard of Excellence, you not only enhance your career but also contribute to the ongoing success of ABC. Let’s work together to ensure that our organization remains a beacon of professionalism and innovation in the wedding industry.

Optimize Your Zoom Account for Professionalism

Virtual meetings are here to stay, and professionalism online is just as important as in person.

Remember to keep your camera on when possible, mute yourself when not speaking, and ensure a clutter-free background. Dress appropriately, be on time, and engage actively—your presence matters!

A little etiquette goes a long way in making Zoom meetings smooth and productive.

The following small tweaks can enhance your professional presence and make every Zoom meeting smoother!

Update Your Display Name – Include your full name and title (e.g., Jane Doe, PWP).

Add a Professional Profile Picture – Use a high-quality headshot for meetings where your camera may be off.

Enable Virtual Backgrounds – Choose a clean, non-distracting background if your real space isn’t ideal.

Adjust Your Audio Settings – Set your microphone to mute upon entry to avoid unintended noise.

Check Your Video Settings – Enable HD video for a clearer image and adjust lighting for better visibility.

Enable Waiting Room – If you’re hosting, use this feature to manage attendees before they enter.

Set Up Meeting Reminders – Sync Zoom with your calendar to stay on top of scheduled calls.

Test Your Tech Beforehand – Ensure your camera, mic, and internet connection are working properly.
