The deadline for for sending 2018 OCWM giving to the association office is December 31, 2018. All giving postmarked after that date will be applied to your 2019 giving. Please remember that you can also give electronically to meet the deadline.
CONCERT SERIES
First Congregational Church of Akron (292 E Market St, Akron) is honored to host the 2018-2019 Symphony Orchestra concert series featuring the University of Akron Symphony Orchestra and Guy Bordo, conductor. The next concert will be Thursday, December 6 in the acoustically flawless and historic Meetinghouse of First Church from 7:30-9PM. The concert series' performances are offered to the public at no charge and require no reservations. Free parking is available on site.

JAZZ NOEL
As gifts to their communities, Middleburg Heights Community UCC (7165 Big Creek Parkway, Middleburg Heights) and South Haven UCC (415 Northfield Rd, Bedford) are hosting free holiday events. Experience the Christmas story reimagined through Jazz Noel: A Child is Born, featuring the music of the Oikos Ensemble. At the South Haven concert on Saturday, December 8 at 7PM, a free will offering will be taken to benefit the South East Clergy Hunger Center. The Middleburg concert, Sunday, December 9 at 3PM will include a free will offering to benefit the Cleveland Kids Book Bank.
BLUE CHRISTMAS SERVICE
The Strongsville UCC Church (13740 Pearl Rd, Strongsville) will have a Blue Christmas Service at 7PM December 9 as a time of reflection, remembrance and healing. It will be a Service of Remembrance of those who have passed on as well as a time of renewal and will be conducted by Pastor Heidi Denman McDougall. It is open to the public.
JAZZ BAND
The Strongsville United Church of Christ (13740 Pearl Rd, Strongsville) will host the Strongsville City Jazz Band on Friday, December 14, 7:30PM. The concert will consist of traditional tunes with a modern touch, just in time to get you in the mood for Christmas. Tickets $10, available at the door.
Christkindl Concert
First Congregational Church (47 Aurora St, Hudson), in collaboration with Destination Hudson and sister city Landsberg, Germany, will present a Christkindl concert of Christmas music by German composers on Saturday, December 15 at 7PM. It will feature The Chancel Choir, Men's Ensemble and Charlotte Plank at the Wilhelm pipe organ. Admission is free.
BLUE CHRISTMAS SERVICE
Advent and the Christmas seasons are supposed to be times to celebrate hope, joy, love and peace, and yet it can be a time that is also full of depression, sadness and grief. You are invited to Congregational UCC (1530 Easton St NE, Canton) to a Blue Christmas Service-A Service of Remembrance and Hope on Sunday, December 16 at 4PM. This service will offer special recognition of the struggles that many people face during this season, but also offer hope, joy, love and peace for the coming weeks.
SINGERS WANTED
First Congregational Church of Hudson (47 Aurora St, Hudson) will present Ralph Vaughan Williams' great oratorio Dona Nobis Pacem in service on Sunday, March 3, 2019. It will feature the Midwest premiere of a new chamber orchestration which will be performed by members of the Akron Symphony Orchestra. The text of the piece is largely taken from the works of Walt Whitman and is 95% in English. Rehearsals begin Monday, January 7, 2019 at the church. Interested singers should email Dr. Tom Scott.
TENT CITY THREATENED
The Akron City Council has threatened to evict 14 homeless people living at The Homeless Charity and Village. The village consists of a number of tents behind the Homeless Charity offices. It is clean, safe and designed to help people get out of homelessness. If you're interested in supporting their work, you can order a copy of their book.

If you'd like to share information about an upcoming or past event sponsored or co-sponsored by a church in our Association, please send your article of 100 words or less in a paragraph by Tuesday noon to office@livingwaterone.org. Be extravagantly welcoming by including the name, location, address, date, time and contact information of the event. Items will run for two consecutive weeks. Fliers may be sent in addition to the 100 word article and a link will be provided to the flier in the article or the flier can be used as the article. Fliers should be less than 5MB and in Word or PDF format. Photos (which display above your article) may be sent in addition to the article. Photos should be less than 5MB and in JPG or PNG format.
