...there are new mileage rates for 2019.
For 2019 the standard mileage rates for the use of a car are:
  • 58¢ per mile driven for business use
  • 20¢ per mile driven for medical or moving purposes
  • 14¢ per mile driven in service of charitable organizations
Time's running out to register in advance for the MLK Overnighter. It's everything you would expect at a typical overnighter - games, pizza, little sleep, music, craziness plus an opportunity to explore the life and the faith and the words of Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.

The Strongsville UCC Church (13740 Pearl Rd, Strongsville) will have an all-you-can-eat swiss steak dinner open to the community on Saturday, January 19. Seatings are at 5 and 6:30PM. Cost is $14 for adults and $6 for kids 6 to 12. Kids 5 and under eat free. For reservations, call 216-598-6198. Proceeds from the dinner will be used for church activities. The church's Thrift Shop will also be open during the dinner.
According to Church Law & Tax in referring to Tax Cuts and Jobs Act of 2017, "the IRS adopted a special rule - one it says should eliminate the possibility of a tax burden on the vast majority of churches and other tax-exempt organizations. But note: churches that reserve parking spaces for employees need to stop the practice by March 31, 2019 to avoid the potential of being taxed for those spaces."
Federated Church in Chagrin Falls, an Open and Affirming congregation, is looking for a part-time (20 hr/week) Pastoral Care Administrator, someone who combines loving, heartfelt care with office acumen to monitor the outreach to and needs of church members and friends. This warm-hearted individual facilitates weekly Pastoral Care Team meetings and follows up with individuals who might benefit from pastoral care support. This detailed individual maintains the databases that track the pastoral care outreach and holds the highest level of ethics and care.
