Family Friendly Concert
You are invited to a free concert by Tim Zimmerman and The King’s Brass on Sunday, June 9 th at 6:00 p.m. at Grace UCC in Uniontown. (13275 Cleveland Ave. NW, 330-699-3255). The King’s Brass performs hymn classics with a contemporary flair. This is a family-friendly event which promises to lift hearts and spirits through music. The concert is free to all; an optional freewill offering will be accepted.
Webinar for General Synod Resolutions
The UCC's Council for Climate Justice is sponsoring a webinar in which lead authors and advocates for five environmentally-related resolutions will present on their respective resolutions. The webinar is for anyone in the UCC regardless of whether or not you are attending General Synod. It is important for members throughout the life of our denomination to be engaged in the process of considering vital matters of faith. The five resolutions pertain to the Green New Deal, forced migration, carbon dividend legislation, nuclear war prevention, and the use of Styrofoam. The webinar will be held on June 6th at 2 pm ET, but a recording will be sent out to all who register. Register today!
Standing Rock Webinar
This month's Creation Justice Webinar features Nick Estes who recently published the acclaimed book on Standing Rock and the long tradition of indigenous resistance. Naomi Klein has praised the book for its transformative stories from the front lines while observing, "Embedded in the centuries-long struggle for Indigenous liberation resides our best hope for a safe and just future for everyone on this planet." In this webinar, Estes will provide critical historical knowledge and perspective for people of faith and conscience seeking environmental justice. The webinar will be held on June 13th at 1 pm. Bicentennial Marker

who is celebrating its bicentennial, invites all to
the ceremony of unveiling and dedication of a marker under the auspices of the Ohio History Connection on Sunday, June 9, 2019 at 11:45 am immediately following the conclusion of its morning’s worship.

Following the ceremony, participants are invited to gather on the church lawn for light refreshments and conversation.

Akron Fire Summer Camp
First Congregational Church of Akron has opened registration for the Akron Fire summer camp, June 24-28! Open to grades 1-5, this camp is designed to unleash the fire within, and is focused on helping campers discover and develop their creative talents through various forms of art.
Programs offered will include arts and crafts, poetry/spoken word, theater/drama, dance, painting/drawing, jewelry making, yoga/meditation, team building exercises and playground time. Camp hours are 8am-4pm, and costs $25 per camper. Camp fee includes breakfast and lunch, snacks, and a camp t-shirt. To learn more, visit the website at or call 330.253.5109.
Volunteer Youth Ministry Training

A federal appeals court has ruled that the clergy housing allowance authorized by the Internal Revenue Service is constitutional.

Scholarships for Members in Discernment
The Ohio Conference UCC offers financial support to those who have discerned a call to and are preparing for authorized ministry. Through the gifts of generous individuals and churches, scholarships are available for seminary education expenses to persons preparing for ordination and, in some cases, preparation for licensed and commissioned ministries. Applicants may request funds to cover tuition, room and board, books and other expenses related to preparation for ministry.
