It is with deep sadness and heartache that I write to share with you that Cheryl McGraw, our Administrative Assistant, Registrar and Communication specialist, on Sunday, May 12 after her struggle with lung cancer.

Cheryl had been with our Association for the last 8 years. Her presence, gifts and skills enriched the life of our Association. She will be truly missed. Please keep her family and loved ones in prayer and heart. When plans about a memorial service are shared we will share them with you.

Please be patient and understanding with us at the Association office, as we navigate through our loss and move forward.

We are also saddened by the loss of Rev. Dr.Stephen Szilagyi on May 10. Our condolences go to Stephen's wife, Jean, and their family. 

Rev. Dr. Szilagyi was the Founder and Executive Director of SARA, Sharing American Resources Abroad, an ecumenical medical mission of the Ohio Conference of the United Church of Christ. 

Calling hours will be held, Friday, May 17, 2019, from 2-4 and 6-8 at the Thompson-Smith-Nesbitt Funeral Home, 345 Main St., Conneaut, where funeral services will be held Saturday, May 18, 2019, at 11:00 AM. Burial will follow at Center Cemetery. Memorials may be given to SARA, PO BOX 147, Wapakoneta, 
Ohio, 45895 or the Fisher House Pittsburgh Foundation, University Dr., Building #33, Pittsburg, PA, 15240.

Join West Park UCC and the Turkish American Society of Cleveland to celebrate the Islamic holy month of Ramadan. Gather in the social hall of West Park (3909 Rocky River Dr, Cleveland) at 7:15PM on Friday, May 10 to celebrate this time with our Muslim friends. There will be a time of interfaith education followed by breaking the daily fast with traditional foods. All are welcome.

First Congregational Church of Akron (292 E Market St, Akron) is honored to host the Akron Pops Orchestra on Thursday, May 16 from 7-9PM. The Akron Pops Orchestra is an all-volunteer group dedicated to sharing the gift of music with our local community. The Pops performs a wide variety of musical genres including light classical, waltzes and marches, as well as selections from Broadway musicals and Hollywood movies. The concert series is offered to the public at no charge and requires no reservations. Call 330-253-5109 for more information.

The Ohio Conference UCC offers financial support to those who have discerned a call to and are preparing for authorized ministry. Through the gifts of generous individuals and churches, scholarships are available for seminary education expenses to persons preparing for ordination and, in some cases, preparation for licensed and commissioned ministries. Applicants may request funds to cover tuition, room and board, books and other expenses related to preparation for ministry.
