An Introduction and Invitation
...these are the top reasons people don't attend church.
According to a Pew Research Center study, these are the top reasons people don't attend church: 1) they practice their faith in "other ways", 2) they are not believers, 3) no reason is "very important", 4) they haven't found a house of worship they like, 5) they don't like the sermons, 6) they don't feel welcome, 7) they don't have the time, 8) poor health or mobility, 9) no house of worship in their area.
CONCERT SERIES
First Congregational Church of Akron (292 E Market St, Akron) is honored to host the 2018-2019 Symphony Orchestra concert series featuring the University of Akron Symphony Orchestra and Guy Bordo, conductor. The first concert of the series will be held September 27 in the acoustically flawless and historic Meetinghouse from 7:30-9PM. The performances are offered to the public at no charge and require no reservations. Free parking is available on site. You may call 330-253-5109 for more information.

PET FAIR & PET BLESSING
Olmsted Community Church (7853 Main St, Olmsted Falls) will host a Pet Fair and Pet Blessing on Saturday, September 29, 10AM-2PM on the campus and nearby covered bridge. The event features vendors, rescue groups, demonstrations, a photo op near the bridge, a memorial board, a food truck, a bake sale and pet blessings at 11AM and 1PM. People are encouraged to bring donations for the non-profit participants. For more information, email Nicki Behr.

BLESSING OF THE ANIMALS
West Park UCC (3909 Rocky River Dr, Cleveland) will host a Blessing of the Animals service on Saturday, October 6 at 1PM. All well-behaved pets are welcome to attend with their pet-parents for this brief service of blessing for all God's creatures!
APPLE BUTTER FESTIVAL
Chatham Community Church (6423 Avon Lake Rd, Medina) will host the 50th Annual Apple Butter Festival on Saturday, October 13, 10AM-5PM, and Sunday, October 14, 10AM-3PM. There is no admission fee. Home cooked foods, live music, country store, raptor display, kid's games and magician, and crafters. Sales proceeds will be donated to benefit those in need.
IMWG WORKSHOP ON APPRECIATIVE INQUIRY
Appreciative Inquiry (AI). You've heard about it, wondered if it would work in your setting, or thought I'm too busy. Here is a day when you can learn the how-tos and whys of AI. On Monday, October 29 learn: what is Appreciative Inquiry and how it can help congregations; identify your congregation's assets, gifts and strengths; how to shift language from identifying the problems to identifying the strengths; develop a process of AI for your congregation.

PILGRIMAGE
Rev. Dr. Carol Vaccariello of HeartSpace Community will walk the Camino Ignaciano! Pastor Carol will take your prayer requests with her as she makes this pilgrimage. Email confidential prayer requests.

OPEN POSITIONS
The Hartsgrove Community Church UCC in Ashtabula County is seeking an organist/pianist to play for their Christmas Eve service at 7PM on December 24, 2018. If you'd like to share information about an upcoming or past event sponsored or co-sponsored by a church in our Associations, please send your article of 100 words or less in a paragraph by Tuesday noon to support.center@eoawraucc.org. Be extravagantly welcoming by including the name, location, address, date, time and contact information of the event. Items will run for two consecutive weeks. Fliers may be sent in addition to the 100 word article and a link will be provided to the flier in the article or the flier can be used as the article. Fliers should be less than 5MB and in Word or PDF format. Photos (which display next to your article) may be sent in addition to the article. Photos should be less than 5MB and in JPG or PNG format.
