I trust this message finds you well and that you had a joyful holiday season surrounded by loved ones, colleagues, and employees. As we step into the new year, I hope you've had a chance to recharge and are ready for the exciting opportunities that 2024 holds.
This year promises to be exceptional, and at SMSDC, we are dedicated to curating an impressive array of meetings, events, and resources to assist you in scaling your business and achieving your 2024 objectives. You may have noticed the change in the location of our annual stakeholders meeting to CPS Energy Headquarters, a strong start for what lies ahead. I encourage you to register at your earliest convenience to secure your spot.
The SMSDC team and I are diligently working on organizing events across the entire region, and they anticipate releasing the annual event calendar in the coming weeks. Additionally, I am thrilled to share that we are developing a group page where MBEs can connect, share leads, and discuss ideas. More details on this initiative will follow in the coming weeks.
In a special milestone, this year marks the 25th Anniversary of SMSDC! Staff is currently in the planning stages of a grand celebration, and I look forward to sharing more details with you in the coming weeks.
As we embark on this journey together, there is much to anticipate and look forward to in 2024. I am eager to engage with each of you and wish you a prosperous and successful year ahead.

Register for
Pre-Certification Sessions
Participation in the information session should take place before the submittal of your application to SMSDC.
All new MBE's must attend Pre-Certification & Post-Certification sessions to assist with the application process. Applicants can now schedule an appointment for One-On-One Information Sessions. The sessions are held by scheduled appointment only every Wednesday from 10am-12pm.
We will discuss:
- Criteria for Certification
- Review of the Application Process
- Answer most common application questions
To get certified you will need to meet the criteria set forth by NMSDC, complete the online application and upload all required documentation.
