Don't worry if you've never paddled open waters! The Terra Ceia Bay is naturally calm and depths rarely exceed 6 feet. It's a good place for beginners to learn the ins and outs of kayaking, paddle boarding or whichever type of watercraft you might choose.
Additionally, if you want to keep your exploration on track and more informative, guided tours by local experts are available. The natural preserves in this area have archaeological findings that show human activity in Terra Ceia as far back as 8000 B.C. In fact, approximately 90 prehistoric archaeological sites have been identified near Terra Ceia Aquatic Preserve. It's easier to find these special treasures when you couple your exploration with an experienced guide.

Because of ongoing national preservation efforts, Fisherman's Cove is surrounded by a pristine environment that looks much the same now as it did to it's first inhabitants.
