Good Morning All-

It’s Friday morning and my eyes are firmly set upon our attempt at Live Contemporary Worship at 10:30am on Sunday mornings. ( Please also know that Traditional Worship will also be available early that morning in your email in boxes. )
I believe it is important to give this live Zoom Worship a “go”, but please come knowing that it will be a technological “stretch” for this pastor. I don’t say that as a way of apologizing in any way, just as a reminder that stretching and risking are apart of our lives these days, mine too. And above all let’s please remember that what isn’t a challenge is finding God.
As if God isn’t everywhere, I hear and say prayers from and in all places, sending, blessing, seeking God everywhere and in every situation. In a lot of ways it is very heartening and inspiring. If you are struggling with that at the moment I encourage you to click on the link to the Upper Room Devotional, call a friend, reconnect with someone, go for a walk; place yourself in the midst of new possibilities. We are in the midst of Spring, almost Holy Week—a journey, but nearly to Easter, THE season for God making all things new. And while this scripture is Old Testament, I think it’s a good one for this season of self-isolation and pandemic and our individual “stretching.”
Isaiah 48:6 New Revised Standard Version
You have heard; now see all this;
and will you not declare it?
From this time forward I make you hear new things,
hidden things that you have not known.

So while all this may be new to US, it in fact has just been hidden and God is the God of it all, new, old and everywhere in between. You are loved—

In Christ,

Pastor Heather
Heather Seman is inviting you to a scheduled Zoom meeting.

Remember, this is the first attempt for a lot of people and only the 2nd or 3rd attempt for almost everyone else! It's also Pastor Heather's first attempt at doing a Zoom Worship. Things will happen, mistakes will be made... but you'll be in it together! You'll be surprised at how good it feels to see faces and participate in the Worship Service. Enjoy the adventure!

PRAYERS

Please pray for....

Ginny Brown asks prayers for Great Niece, Julianna Doerzaph and husband Zac (both graduates of Lake City High). They have been diagnosed with COVID 19 in Virginia. They're at home with their two little girls and have 10 more days of confinement. It is especially touchy as Julianna has type 1 diabetes.

Sue Binger would like prayers for her friend,  Janet Scheffler, a much loved member of the Medford NJ UMC who is now in Hospice, ending her 2 year battle with brain cancer.

Praises....

THANK YOU, all of you at CUMC.
You are making all the difference during this isolation period. Never think you are not appreciated. Somehow, I will think of how to pay it forward because I cannot pay you back adequately.
God bless you all.  Kathy Solum

YOUTH ZOOM

They’re all healthy and doing great!

TO MASK OR NOT TO MASK
that is the question!
As of today:
The CDC says if you are not sick, "you do not need to wear a facemask unless you are caring for someone who is sick." However, if you are sick, "You should wear a facemask when you are around other people and before you enter a healthcare provider's office."
The World Health Organization says only wear a mask if you are sick or caring for someone who is sick. "Mask wearing by the general public is not among the WHO's recommendations."
Dr. Anthony Fauci says masks should not be used as a substitute for social distancing, but rather can be used as a supplement. "...the better part of valor is that when you're out and you can't maintain that six-foot distance to wear some sort of facial covering."
Dr. Sanjay Gupta says "The way to think about this mask issue is that it's not really, still, for people who are not infected. This is more for people who might be infected and don't know it, and to try and lower the likelihood that they will spread this to somebody else."
