Dear friends and neighbors,

This week, we voted to pass a Continuing Resolution to keep our government open to serve the American people. As House Democrats continue our efforts to put people over politics, we will ensure that infrastructure and jobs projects continue moving forward, Medicaid and Social Security remain intact, nutrition and education programs are properly funded, our service members are paid, and more.

In the Energy and Commerce Committee, we discussed artificial intelligence legislation to promote innovation, protect consumers, and provide guardrails for development.

In the district, we celebrated National Apprenticeship Week with our local students, Orange County Public Schools, and Central Florida labor unions. We are committed to investing in our trades and ensuring youth in the district have access to these opportunities.

We also met with our United Auto Workers and Labor Advisory Board to listen to updates on the recent new contracts for UAW and SAG-AFTRA. We will continue working together to protect workers, create higher paying jobs, better benefits and more.

I am incredibly proud of our accomplishments this week and look forward to continuing our work to improve the lives of Central Floridians.

Working on the Future of AI
From helping us discover the first COVID treatment to analytics and running theme parks, artificial intelligence is incredible. However, it can also be a disrupter. In the Energy and Commerce Committee, we're working to pass legislation to promote innovation, protect consumers, and provide guardrails for development.
Celebrating the Infrastructure Law's Second Anniversary
The Regional Leadership Council met with White House Senior Advisor Mitch Landrieu to discuss how the Infrastructure Law is delivering $400 billion to over 40,000 projects nationwide. We have seen $2 billion for for the I-4 expansion and $1 billion for Poinciana Parkway, $200 million for Orlando International Airport improvements, as well as over $30 million for SunRail/Brightline expansions. This law is also helping us improve local ports and make broadband and public transportation access more equitable.
Discussing Effective Lawmaking with Future Forum
The Future Forum Caucus met with the Center for Effective Lawmaking to discuss strategies that can help Members of Congress deliver for our constituents, including reaching young folks. I am proud to be rated the most effective Florida Democrat again for passing many new laws like the Pulse National Memorial, Restoring Resilient Reefs Act, Kissimmee River Wild and Scenic River Study, and more.
Meeting with the FL Department of Environmental Protection
It was great to meet with Florida Department of Environmental Protection Secretary Shawn Hamilton to discuss hurricane recovery efforts, Everglades and coral reef restoration, and our joint plan to implement $250 million in federal Infrastructure Law funding to protect clean water.
