It all started back in 2011, when the trustees of the Educational Excellence Foundation (EEF) wanted to celebrate the foundation's 25th anniversary with a wine tasting at the Vista Tech Center at Schoolcraft College. Not knowing what to expect, the foundation opened the event doors and the community flocked to it raising $5,000 the first year.
That was the beginning of a new Plymouth Canton community tradition, Uncorked, a wine tasting and strolling dinner supporting the EEF's efforts to enhance the academic experience for students in the Plymouth Canton Community Schools (P-CCS). Celebrating it's 10th anniversary this year, it is now held at Fox Hills Golf and Banquet Center and has raised over $418,000. This has allowed the EEF to provide grants to all 24 schools in the district, scholarships to graduating seniors, social emotional learning programs, intervention tutoring, and ensuring all students have access to athletics, clothing and food.
This years event, presented by Community Financial Credit Union, will be held on Friday April 24th and will include over 70 varieties of wine, 20 types of craft beer, a strolling dinner, silent auction, gift card pull, wagon of cheer, red carpet, music, complimentary valet and more. It is a great night of networking with leaders from the community, a fun date night or a night out with friends all supporting a great cause. Tickets will be on sale mid-March at all Busch's Fresh Market locations or online at eefforkids.org.
The EEF needs YOUR help in making this our most successful event in it's history. Possible ways you can help are:
- Sponsor the Event- information can be found HERE
- Silent Auction Item donation - baskets, event tickets, electronics, experiences - information can be found HERE
- Gift Cards to be used in our gift card pull
- Monetary donations to be used toward our silent auction
- Volunteering the night of at the event
One thing that has not changed over the years is the community's support of the event and for that, we are very grateful. We look forward to seeing everyone on April 24th to celebrate 10 years of excellence at Uncorked!

Vibraphone
Sean Penderel
Pioneer Middle School
$2,497
This grant funded a new vibraphone for Pioneer Middle School. This is the first vibraphone Pioneer has ever had and will be used by Pioneer’s 30 percussionists and 5 ensembles, totaling 233 students. Over the next 20 years, nearly 5,000 students will have had the opportunity to use the vibraphone!
A vibraphone is like a xylophone that contains a motor with rotating paddles within the resonators. These paddles create a vibrato sound, which results in the distinctive "vibraphone" sound.
The unique sound of a vibraphone is a staple of Contemporary Concert Band literature, Jazz, and specifically American music, which is what Pioneer’s curriculum is based around. It is not uncommon for Pioneer students to be working on advanced musical literature. The addition of a vibraphone allows Pioneer students to continue to challenge themselves while creating robust, well rounded ensembles and bands.
