A VISIT FROM THE MARONITE SISTERS, A PK-4 FIELD TRIP TO THE CHURCH, A BEAUTIFUL DAY FOR RECESS
AND A MUSH FOR THE IDITA-READ !
While this past week may have been a short one for our students, it was certainly a busy one!
On Tuesday, we had a visit from the Maronite Sisters of Christ the Light, who spoke to our students about the beauty of this holy season of Lent. Their connection to the students was based on the idea of practice, and that it is with practice that we can improve... not only shooting hoops, but in our prayer life and Lenten journey. This repeated theme of being "called to action" was reinforced by the Sisters, as they spoke to students about how prayer, fasting, and almsgiving make our Christian life stronger. It is with practice and perseverance that our faith is strengthened! The Sisters also made the point to our students (which is also helpful to us as adults) that it is not too late to make Lenten commitments... start now!
Who would imagine that a class of four year olds, when given a choice of a special reward, would choose a "field trip" to our church?!? Miss Cordeiro and Mrs. Douglass walked their class down Main Street, for the first time this school year, to take in the beauty and sacredness of our beautiful church. Father Ryan toured them, taught them and prayed with them during their special field trip, and of course the return to school for some hot chocolate was a wonderful treat as well!
Finally our mushers are off to a great start in the Idita-read, moving their way along the trail! So far, Grades 3 & 4 have crossed the first checkpoint, reading more minutes than there are miles of the actual Iditarod, which is 1,049 miles... Nicely done!
God Bless & Have a Great Weekend!
