A VISIT FROM THE MARONITE SISTERS, A PK-4 FIELD TRIP TO THE CHURCH, A BEAUTIFUL DAY FOR RECESS

AND A MUSH FOR THE IDITA-READ !

While this past week may have been a short one for our students, it was certainly a busy one!

On Tuesday, we had a visit from the Maronite Sisters of Christ the Light, who spoke to our students about the beauty of this holy season of Lent. Their connection to the students was based on the idea of practice, and that it is with practice that we can improve... not only shooting hoops, but in our prayer life and Lenten journey. This repeated theme of being "called to action" was reinforced by the Sisters, as they spoke to students about how prayer, fasting, and almsgiving make our Christian life stronger. It is with practice and perseverance that our faith is strengthened! The Sisters also made the point to our students (which is also helpful to us as adults) that it is not too late to make Lenten commitments... start now!

Who would imagine that a class of four year olds, when given a choice of a special reward, would choose a "field trip" to our church?!? Miss Cordeiro and Mrs. Douglass walked their class down Main Street, for the first time this school year, to take in the beauty and sacredness of our beautiful church. Father Ryan toured them, taught them and prayed with them during their special field trip, and of course the return to school for some hot chocolate was a wonderful treat as well!

Finally our mushers are off to a great start in the Idita-read, moving their way along the trail! So far, Grades 3 & 4 have crossed the first checkpoint, reading more minutes than there are miles of the actual Iditarod, which is 1,049 miles... Nicely done!

God Bless & Have a Great Weekend!

Our Call to Action

Our school community continues on our journey that focuses on PRAYER, FASTING and ALMSGIVING. Our students have reflected upon making the next forty days prayerful , purposeful and penitential. Our third graders made their commitments and posted them in our hallway for all to see...

talk about being held accountable for Lenten promises!

Our National Junior Honor Society will engage our community in the Lenten pillar of ALMSGIVING, encouraging our community to give to and be of service to others. Each week a service opportunity will be initiated, introduced and encouraged by our NJHS members. Please help their efforts by supporting their efforts through generosity and prayer. A Dress Down Day is planned next week to benefit the people of Ukraine by donating money to Catholic Relief Services.

From the Office:

- January/February extended care invoices went out last week. If you have not received it, please let me know.

- There are a decent amount of unfinished re-registrations out there, either because the actual packet is still in process, or because we haven't received the re-registration fee. Would you please take a minute over the weekend to double check that your student's packets are complete and the fee has been sent? It would be appreciated. :)

- On a related note, if you are not planning on having your student return next year, would you please log on to your Family Portal account, access the re-registration packet, and just indicate that you will be withdrawing your student(s)? We've been blessed with quite a bit of interest in our preschool and Kindergarten programs this year and need a clear idea of what we have for open spots.

God Bless! Mrs. Reis
