GECAC Senior Centers Have Reopened
|
|
GECAC's Area Agency on Aging is pleased to announce that our senior centers, located throughout Erie County, have reopened. Our senior center staff developed plans that allowed all seven centers to reopen safely, with public health protocols in place.
Social isolation has been a real problem during the pandemic for many older adults, putting them at higher risk for poor health and outcomes. Opportunities for social connections such as healthy meals, exercise, and group activities are key to Erie County seniors' long-term physical, mental and emotional health, and well-being.
GECAC Senior Center Locations:
- Albion
- Corry
- Erie Downtown
- Erie West

Teens are Rockin' Summer JAM Employment
|
|
A first job often means so much more than a paycheck. It can mean a connection to a lifelong mentor, the ability to envision a career path, a boost in self-confidence, an appreciation for the value of education, an off-ramp from a life on the streets, a belief that you can be something.
This summer, 150 youth have been matched with 50 employers based on the employer specifications, geographic proximity, and availability of reliable transportation. The employers provide the work—and GECAC pays the hourly wage of $8.25.
Summer JAM is run by GECAC and is funded through Erie County Government, Erie County Gaming and Revenue Authority, and The Erie Community Foundation.
