A MIRACULOUS MONDAY,
VOCATIONS WEEK CONTINUED &,
CARRYOVER VETERANS DAY,
FIRE STATION VISIT
& FINALLY FRIDAY!
While there was a definite "chill" in the air on Monday morning, (probably the most we have felt in a while), we trekked down Main Street regardless, to celebrate Holy Mass as a school community. This time, for the first time, we were a "completed family" with our Small Wonders through Grade 8 students in attendance. During Father Ryan's homily, he called our attention to the Gospel reading, and pointed out the MIRACLE that Jesus performed with the healing of the blind man.
When Jesus approached the blind man
He asked,
"What do you want me to do for you?"
Father reminded us that Jesus also asks us this exact same question and stressed the importance of developing a relationship with Christ through our prayer life and to make sure that we ask for what we need ...what do we want Him to do for us?
With last week's shortened duration, we decided to continue our conversation about vocations with our middle school students this week. Father Jack Schrader, pastor of St. John Neumann Parish in East Freetown, came by to speak on vocations, to share his personal story of his call to priesthood and to pose some tough questions to all of our middle school students,
What are you living for?
Who are you living for?
Father Shrader asked students to give real thought to whether they are living simply for themselves, or for something much greater than that.
Our preschool students had a real treat on Tuesday, as Miss Donna's son, Sergeant Cordeiro visited to share with the group the honor and privilege it is to serve our great country. Our youngest students were able to ask Sgt. Cordeiro questions, that included some about his time in the army, as well as some rather random ones (ie.do you know that an octopus can squirt ink?)! From the mouths of babes!
Thanks once again to our local department for sharing with our kindergarten class the day in the life of a firefighter! Students came back excited to learn many things including not to be afraid of fireman because they are here to help... but they do have lots of heavy gear and a face mask!
And finally.... it's Friday.
We have so much to be grateful for!
Have a wonderful weekend.
