FRIDAY EVENING'S NEWSLETTER &

PICS OF THE WEEK!

TIME IN ADORATION,

A PRESCHOOL EXCLAMATION,

DAMIEN'S FOOD COLLECTION,

&

FRIDAY STATIONS!

Our week began with our monthly visit from the Maronite sisters, and this time, Mother Marla Marie came without her Sister companions! Our students had time for silent prayer and the opportunity to reflect on the season of Lent, as well as a a few of the psalms. Mother explained that she has been praying the psalms since she was a child, and made mention that Psalm 23, "The Lord is my Shepherd, I shall not want," is one of her all time favorites. Students were encouraged to pray the psalms, and most especially during this Holy Season. After our preschoolers had the chance to spend time in Adoration, one particular four year old held up his wonderfully artistic creation for me to see and exclaimed, with rather interesting phonetic pronunciation,

"This is the monster-ince for Adoration!"

He was so proud... as was I!

As always, whatever the "ask" may be, the generosity of this school community is heartwarming. Throughout the week, items streamed in steadily for donation to Damien's pantry and were checked, sorted, and packaged today, for delivery next week. Thank you for your willingness, not only to give to those less fortunate than ourselves, but also to instill in your children a sense of giving alms and service as we journey through Lent.

Finally our Friday arrived, and we were able to participate in a "spiritual journey" around the gym, pausing at the fourteen stations that depict Christ's Journey to Calvary. Our students seemed to enjoy praying this Catholic devotion and tradition, and will do so in the coming Friday's as well!

Have a wonderful weekend!

Students are offered lunch daily, free of charge.  Click here for March Menu for your planning and packing purposes! Please note that our school will be replacing Friday menu items in order to maintain our meatless fast on Fridays during Lent!

Please note that school nurse, Mrs. Nancy Camara will be substituting for Mrs. Manning in her absence. Mrs. Camara has worked as a substitute in the Diocese of Fall River and has also been a school nurse for twenty-two years. Please be "patient" with Mrs. Camara as she learns our school routines and gets to know our staff, family and students.

For those who may have missed the school's Facebook post, Mrs. Manning's husband Will survived a terrible accident, but still has a long road ahead of him and will need the support and prayers of our school community.

Please pray for the Manning family.

WOW!

Last weekend eight of our middle schoolers, who qualified based on their performance at our local science fair, attended the annual Regional Science Fair held at Bristol Community College. It was nothing less than a "proud principal" moment, as our students truly shone in that arena as well, bringing home numerous awards and honors. The eight scientists who competed were Olivia Ribeiro, Bria Pavlisko, Abby Manning, Dominic Shaughnessy, Colleen Kearney, Will Manning, Kerrin Araujo, and Caroline Hannigan.

After Saturday's fair, the following students earned a spot at the State Science Fair held in May!

  • First Place Prize Winners:  Dominic Shaughnessy and Abby Manning
  • Second Place Prize Winner:  Kerrin Araujo
  • Third Place Prize Winner:  Bria Pavlisko

Special awards were also given to students whose projects both scored well and fulfilled a criterion for the award and we had some St. Francis Xavier School winners! Congratulations to all of our students, and kudos to their teacher, Mrs. Shaughnessy, for leading and guiding our students to greatness!
