APPLY FOR A 2026 STUDENT SCHOLARSHIP

The Committee for Dulles Community Outreach (CFDCO) is now taking 2026 scholarship applications from graduating high school seniors. The CFDCO's Dulles Airport Scholarship Program (DASP) offers scholarships to eligible students. To be eligible for a scholarship, the applicant must be an employee or volunteer, or is a dependent of an employee or volunteer of, a business or agency operating in the Washington Dulles Airport community. This is defined as inside the fence that surrounds the entire airport property. Click here to review the criteria and begin your application! Applications are due no later than Monday, April 6, 2026.

The CFDCO is the charitable arm of the Committee for Dulles and operates the DASP. The DASP is supported by both the Committee for Dulles and the Washington Airports Task Force. To make a donation to the CFDCO, please click here! All donations go to the scholarship program to help students.

A VISIT TO VIRGIN ATLANTIC

This past Tuesday, 14 members of the Aviation & Airport Activities Committee of CFD had the privilege of visiting the Virgin Atlantic Lounge at Dulles International Airport in Concourse A for a tour, presentation, and scrumptious meal. The tour was arranged by Committee member, Mike Hajoun, from Madison Limousine. We were warmly greeted by several staff members who led us to our seating area where we met Darlene Holland, Virgin Atlantic's Station Manager. We learned that 30 years ago Virgin Atlantic had the first lounge at Dulles Airport, and in the beginning, accommodated travelers from other airlines while waiting for their next flights. To top off our visit, we individually made our lunch selection from their 5-star menu. The Virgin Atlantic Lounge at Dulles is “designed for VIPs -Relaxed, friendly and luxurious.”

Today, Virgin Atlantic has 4 locations in the U.S. in Los Angeles-LAX, San Francisco-SFO, New York-JFK, and here at Dulles International Airport, as well as two international locations in London’s Heathrow Airport and Johannesburg, Africa. HELPING TSA

Due to the funding roadblock on Capitol Hill, TSA and other Homeland Security agencies remain unfunded. This has caused employees of TSA and these other important security agencies to work without pay. To help the men and women who work for TSA at Dulles, and who have not seen a paycheck in weeks, a food pantry opened at Dulles to provide essential items. This past week, the CFD Board of Directors authorized a $2,000 expenditure to purchase food and other household items. Below is a picture of one of the three deliveries made.

If you wish to help by providing groceries and other items, email Scott York and he will provide you with the information to donate.
