City Development Cost Charge (DCC) Bylaw Update

  • Letter submitted by Chamber to Mayor, Council and staff following member feedback after release of proposed projects, costs, and DCC rates (prior to First reading of bylaw) (June 21, 2018)

As with any topic that is on our business community members minds, we welcome your continued feedback and will be sharing an overview of what we are hearing with our Mayor and Council this week to continue keeping them informed.

Draft Bylaw will be presented for Second and Third reading. Following Third Reading, the bylaw is submitted to the Province for approval, prior to adoption by Council.

Transportation: Economical & safety concerns for Hwy 1 around Three Valley Gap  
Many thanks to all who penned letters to the provincial government about 3VG; why improvements are needed and how regular closures economically affect your business. And a HUGE ovation for Revelstoke community member Shannon Smith for taking the time and courage to lead the way forward with this powerful letter-writing campaign.

Revelstoke Labour Crisis: Efforts to adjust current Temporary Foreign Worker application framework
We have been lobbying the provincial government to pursue if, and how, Revelstoke can be exempt from our Labour Market Impact Assessment (LMIA) classification for the Foreign Worker Program (FWP) or to shift the current guidelines of that program. The current classification is prohibiting our employers from applying for this option, even when no local, provincial, or national workers are available for the positions.
