President Shelly opened this morning's monthly Business meeting
Invocation - Lydia touched us all with the reminder that although sadness, depression, bad weather, etc. can dampen our spirits temporarily, we must work to find things that remind us of the good things in life. We should be happy because good things DO happen, all the time.
Sunshine: Thoughts and prayers are given for one of our founding members, Teryou Kunibe who is currently in hospice care. Teryou is 103 years old this year.
Thoughts and prayers also for Laurie's friend who recently lost her Mom and for Paula's daughters puppy who is suffering health problems.
Correspondence: We received thank you letters from SI Hawaii for our donation to the victims of the Wildfire on Maui, from the Kellerman Foundation for continued support and from 2 of our GIVE award winners, Emily Banks and Milan Riva. Milan generously donated a beautiful cutting board with Lake Tahoe in the center to our online auction. Talk about giving back!!
A reminder that invoices for yearly club dues will be going out and a request that they be paid promptly because we have to send a big portion of that money to the "Mothership" mid-late June.
Next week we have our awards breakfast where we give away a big percentage of the money we earn each year. Don't forget to come early, sign up to bring food and remember that even though it is held back at the Senior Center, our members are encouraged to park at the Rec. Center to allow parking for our 23 recipients and their guests.
Bring any donation items that you have that need "basketizing" (or prettying up) to Cookie next week please. Our Auction opens May 14th and closes on May 24th. Make sure your drop offs to Cookie are labeled with the Auction number please. Also, if you are donating a RAFFLE basket, please mark it as such so it doesn't end up in the auction.
Don't forget to Sell those Raffle tickets if you can, that money goes directly into the awards we can give next year. Tickets are $50 each, we are only selling (up to) 200 tickets for each vacation so the odds of winning are high!
We still need gals to sign up for Mad Hatter set up and also for kitchen help. If you are not adopting a table, there are still lots of ways you can help. Contact Lisa C. or Shelly to find out how.
The Sierra Nevada Region (SNR) conference is June 7-9. Please contact Shelly if you have not signed up but want to attend. This is a great experience!
We are preparing for our annual Dream It Be It workshop. It will be held May 13th at Valhalla. Plese get in touch with Shelly to sign up to help plan or execute....or BOTH!

A special THANK YOU to our long-time member Lisa Huard for her 21 years of extremely hard work in providing "The Drug Store Project" to our community 6th graders. This year's program targeted the 6th grade youth of South Tahoe Middle School, George Whittell High School, Diamond Valley Elementary, and some of our home-schooled youth. In total, we (our group sponsors this event and supplies lots of volunteers) shared this life saving event with 300 youth. This worthwhile drug prevention program takes several months to put on and a full 200+ members of the community, law enforcement, legal teams, JTC members, high schoolers and National Guard volunteers. With Lisa's guidance it all comes off seamlessly. The 6th graders all take a pre-test and a post-test, and it is amazing how much more educated they are after attending Drug Store Project. Next year Theresa Papandrea will be in the number one spot and will need all of our help (I'm sure Lisa will be in the wings with loads of help too). Our community was lucky to have Lisa Huard at the helm for 21 years and she will be sorely missed.
