Q: What is your biggest accomplishment?
I had a lot of failures, but there were successes that exceeded those failures, so I think my proudest accomplishment is that I have no regrets in my life.
Q: What sustains your quality of life?
Listen to my doctors and care for myself. [...]
But I also think my grandchildren and casinos sustain my quality of life.
Q: What goals do you have now?
Every day, I have different goals to finish. One is to finish my ukulele, another is to finish my quilt … I have a lot of goals. My goal is to make other people happy.
Q: What contributes to your happiness?
I love social dancing. [...] I also enjoy leisure reading. I feel I am fortunate to be in a position to do whatever I want to do in retirement.
Q: What do you look forward to each week?
I look forward to working with my fellow volunteers at the museum and at the church. They’re all really dedicated, great people.
Q: What sustains your quality of life?
I think socializing with everyone here [at Seinan].
And also being able to spend quality time with my children, and living a life without any worries.

Tip for Today: Emergency Preparedness
Many of you may have felt the recent earthquakes. Although it is unknown when the next big quake will hit Southern California, living near the San Andreas Fault Line poses a great risk to us all.
According to Baldassare, Lopes, Bonner, and Shrestha (2014) of Public Policy Institute of California, only 33% of Californians claim to be “very knowledgeable” about how to prepare for a major disaster such as an earthquake.
Read Keiro's Fact sheet on emergency preparedness to familiarize yourself about what to include in an emergency kit, how to protect yourself during an earthquake, precautions to take during an emergency evacuation, and resources you can further look into.
