Keiro and the East San Gabriel Valley Japanese Community Center (ESGVJCC) are proud to announce the launch of ClubGenki, a culturally-sensitive senior adult day program that seeks to enhance the quality of life for older adults aging at home. ClubGenki aims to promote overall wellness with a focus on one's physical, mental, social, and emotional wellbeing.

Participants from the 2021 "Celebration" Arts Showcase

In honor of Keiro no Hi in September, we will host the third annual Fine Arts Showcase! We are inviting everyone in Our Community, age 60 or older, to create and express themselves through different forms of art. Submitted artwork will be displayed on Keiro’s website.

Theme: Tsunagari – Connection
Submission Deadline: Friday, July 29th | 5:00 p.m. PDT

“More than any other nonprofit organization, Keiro has done so much and played a key part in preserving the Japanese culture, traditions, and accommodations.”
- Daniel Konishi, Executive Director at Sakura Gardens

While Keiro no longer owns or operates the former facilities, we have continued to enhance culturally-sensitive activities for residents, as well as provide support to employees during the pandemic. A few individuals shared about the various ways Keiro has supported them over the past six years.

Please help Keiro in a survey to learn more about individuals who:

  • Currently dye their hair.
  • Have regularly dyed their hair in the past but do not anymore.
  • Have not dyed their hair on a regular basis.
OR
  • Have never dyed their hair.

This survey should take less than five minutes to complete, and answers will be anonymously used for our future feature.
KEIRO PROGRAMMING
ANNOUNCEMENT
As we make our return to in-person programs for the community, we will take a short break in August to restructure our virtual and in-person programs. We will still host virtual forums in July. Please look forward to exciting and new changes to our programs starting in September!
Keiro is proud to announce the 5th annual Keiro no Hi Festival! As community spaces begin to open up, Keiro wishes to gather and reconnect with older adults in a safe, in-person format. The festival will be hosted at four local community organizations in Pasadena, Gardena, Cerritos, and Venice (locations subject to change) and will feature a complimentary bento, gift bag, crafts, and more!

Registration opens: Tuesday, July 5th
