Please Welcome Jackie Kiebler to Our Keller UMC Staff as Interim Congregational Care Coordinator

I give God thanks that one of our gifted church members has accepted the position of interim congregational care coordinator.  As we search for an additional associate pastor this summer, Jackie Kiebler will coordinate all of our caring ministries and will assist the pastors in caring for our amazing congregation. I am so thankful for Jackie's willingness to serve in this important way and I know our congregation will be blessed by her ministry.

Pastor Chris

A word from Jackie:

I am honored that Pastor Chris approached me to help with coordinating our caring ministries over the next few months.  Providing support and care has been a part of my life in many ways - as a mother, family member, friend, Stephen Minister and nurse.  I have also been the recipient of care from others in our church, especially during my mother's illness and when she moved on to be with our Lord.  So, I know the vital role that congregational care plays in our church's ministry.  I'm excited about being able to serve our church staff and congregation in new ways.

Confirmation Change at Keller UMC

Confirmation brings much heritage, tradition and celebration in the United Methodist Church. This is the time when students are invited to own their faith, confessing Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior, officially join the Church, and build a foundation to continue on their faith journeys as disciples of Christ.

In the past Keller UMC has offered confirmation during the student's 6th grade year. However, in recent years we have started discussing changing to middle school age, when young people begin to move from concrete thinking to abstract thinking. Beginning this fall, the entry grade for confirmation will change to 7th grade. After much evaluation, we fell strongly this will increase student engagement and their commitment level in their spiritual journey. Students will continue to transition into youth ministry at the end of the 6th grade year.

In the 2015-2016 school year, we will offer a shortened confirmation class for any student in 7th-12th grade who has not already been confirmed. In the fall of 2016, we will officially kick off 7th grade confirmation.
