Kennesaw State (1-8, 1-4 CUSA) returns home on Saturday for another Conference USA matchup. It will be the Owls’ first ever game without former head coach Brian Bohannon at the helm. Bohannon was fired on Sunday following the double overtime loss at UTEP.

Kennesaw State co-offensive coordinator Chandler Burks will be the interim head coach for the remaining three games.

The Bearkats (7-2, 4-1 CUSA) enter the game riding a wave of momentum with wins in six of their last seven outings. The are coming off a narrow 9-3 win against Louisiana Tech. Offensively, Sam Houston has averaged 24.9 points per game, with quarterback Hunter Watson leading the charge, throwing for over 1,100 yards this season. The Bearkats’ ground game is potent, averaging nearly 200 rushing yards per game, spearheaded by running back Jay Ducker, who has accumulated 469 yards and six touchdowns.

In contrast, the Owls have struggled throughout the season, managing only one improbable win over previously unbeaten Liberty against eight losses. Their latest performance was a hard-fought double overtime battle 43-35 against UTEP.

KSU’s offense has been less prolific, averaging just 17.1 points per game, with quarterback Davis Bryson completing nearly 55% of his passes for over 1,000 yards but also facing challenges with turnovers.

The Owls will need to improve their defensive performance, which has allowed an average of 32.4 points per game, if they hope to compete against a strong Sam Houston team.

Owls Men's Hoops Tame Bryan College 94-59

The Owls lived in the paint, outscoring Bryan College by a 44-18 margin. That was also reflected in the team's final field goal percentages, with KSU finishing at 42.4% (36-of-85) while the Lions were just 22-of-75 for 29.3%.

Adrian Wooley, last week's CUSA Freshman of the Week, flirted with a triple-double in just his third game as he finished with 13 points, nine rebounds and seven assists. The rebounds and assist totals were both season-highs.

Kennesaw State head coach hot board: Top candidates to replace Brian Bohannon

Kennesaw State fired head coach Brian Bohannon on Sunday. He helped get the Owls’ program off the ground, winning 48 games over the first five seasons. Bohannon also oversaw a Kennesaw State program that became the first start-up program in college football history to post three consecutive 11-win seasons during its first five years of competition.

But Kennesaw State jumped to the FBS level this season, struggling with a 1-8 record and a 1-4 mark in Conference USA. The lone win for the Owls this season was a stunning 27-24 upset of Liberty in October.

KSU’s resources don’t match a typical FBS school. Bohannon was only making $376,000, the lowest in the nation and in the C-USA. That will need to improve to attract the right coaching pool. Experience at the FBS level will be critical in the hire. For context, whoever the hire is will be just the second head coach in program history.

Chad Morris, Texas State

wide receivers coach

The former SMU and Arkansas head coach is currently in his first season as the wide receivers coach at Texas State. A source told On3 that Chad Morris is interested in returning as a head coach, though.

Tre Lamb, East Tennessee

After winning two consecutive conference titles at Gardner-Webb, Tre Lamb took on the East Tennessee job last offseason.

Skip Holtz, USFL head coach

The former Louisiana Tech, South Florida, East Carolina and UConn head coach wants back into college football. The USFL Birmingham Stallions head coach, Skip Holtz compiled a 26-4 mark in his three-season stint in the league.

KSU Volleyball Closes Out The Regular Season With a Pair of Weekend Games At UTEP

in El Paso, Texas

Kennesaw State volleyball is gearing up for an exciting weekend as they face off against the UTEP Miners on November 15 and 16 in El Paso, Texas. This matchup marks a critical point in the season for the Owls, who are riding a four-game winning streak and looking to solidify their position in Conference USA.

KSU is coming off a two game split against Middle Tennessee, moving them to third place in the conference at 10-6 in league play and an overall record of 13-14. Key players like Olivia Burrage have been instrumental, earning accolades such as the CUSA Defensive Player of the Week after a standout week that included multiple blocks and kills.

The games against UTEP are scheduled for November 15 at 8:00 p.m. followed by a rematch on November 16 at 2:00 p.m. Both matches will take place at Club Memorial and can be seen on ESPN+.
