Kennesaw State (0-5, 0-1 CUSA) takes it’s quest for a first win of the season on the road to Middle Tennessee State in Murfreesboro for a strange Tuesday night game staying in the conference on October 15th. The weeknight game does give the Owls an 11 day break.

They might have a better shot in that one with the Blue Raiders (1-5, 0-2 CUSA) also struggling out of the gate in a five game losing stream. They’re coming off a tough 48-21 conference road game Thursday night October 10 loss at Louisiana Tech. Unlike the Owls, they’ll be playing on just five days rest. But, as MTSU head coach Derek Mason said after that loss, "we've got a five day turnaround. We've got to just flush that, go play Kennesaw State and try to get a win."

As head coach Brian Bohannon pointed out in his Friday press conference, the Blue Raiders have played some tough teams in Ole Miss, Duke and Memphis along the way.

The Owls are coming off a lopsided 63-24 conference home loss last weekend. Jax State was so dominant that they got both the Conference USA Offensive Player of the Week award (Tyler Huff) and Defensive Player of the Week award (Zechariah Poyser).

Huff rushed for 176 yards and three touchdowns while Poyser picked off a pair of passes.

KSU redshirt sophomore quarterback Davis Bryson has thrown for 540 yards with one touchdown but has also faced challenges with three interceptions. The running game, led by Bryson himself with 89 rushing yards, has not yet found its rhythm this season.

On the other hand, the Blue Raiders have managed one victory this season but have also faced significant challenges, including a recent loss to Duke (45-17). Redshirt junior QB Nicholas Vattiato has shown promise with 1,285 passing yards and five touchdowns, but inconsistency has plagued the offense.

The standout player for MTSU has been junior running back Jaiden Credle, who has amassed 233 rushing yards and two touchdowns in a single game this season

KSU at MTSU Kickoff is 8:00 p.m. The game can again be see on the CBS Sports Network.

Watch Head Coach Brian Bohannon's Weekly Press Conference Previewing Middle Tennessee State

We're beat up, we've got multiple starters and that's just something we've got to navigate now.

We're getting ready to play a good team, had a rough night last night. When you watch them...Ole Miss, Duke and Memphis. They've played some really good football teams. They're going to be hungry to get a win, just like we are. We've got to eliminate the mistakes that we've made.

Juan Silas will not be available. He's got some family stuff. Nate Wright's banged up. I don't know if he'll play. Gabe (Benyard)'s out. Don't know if he'll be back this week.

(At quarterback) You've got three guys taking reps right now. You've got Khalib (Johnson), Braden (Bohannon) and Lucas (Scheerhorn). I don't know who's going to start.

(Qua Ashley) This is somebody I've talked about for awhile. Its just a matter of getting him the ball and getting him going. He's been conscientious. That's why he's being productive. He's run the ball hard, can catch the ball and, obviously, the kick return was huge.

I've watched all their games. Their quarterback has got a ton of experience. I don't know (Coach Derek Mason) personally. I think he runs a tight ship. They're a disciplined team. You can tell, they've got a plan for what they're doing. He's been in the profession a long time...his first year at MTSU

Reverse Sweep Leads to Coach Schunzel's 200th Career Win

Kennesaw State Volleyball used a huge rally to pull off a reverse sweep at Jacksonville State on Wednesday afternoon, coming back for a 3-2 (20-25, 15-25, 26-24, 26-24, 15-8) at Pete Mathews Coliseum. With the win, the Owls swept the season series with JSU thanks to Tuesday night's 3-0 win, and moved their record in Conference USA play to 3-3. It was also a milestone victory for KSU, as it was the 200th career victory for Head Coach Keith Schunzel.

PLAYER OF THE GAME: Libero Leah Freeman found a way to make an impact offensively, as she recorded a career-high six services aces, part of a season-high 13 aces by the Owls. Twice she scored the winning set point for KSU off an ace, while she also added a team-high 18 digs in the win.

The Owls are back home to host Liberty on Saturday at 3 p.m. and Sunday at 1 p.m. in the Convocation Center. Both games will be streamed live on ESPN+.

Owls Soccer Continues CUSA Play Sunday at NM State

Kennesaw State's lengthy road trip continues as they trek to New Mexico State for a Conference USA match on Sunday with a 2 p.m. ET kickoff time. The Owls are 2-7-4 overall, 1-1-3 in CUSA play.

KSU fell 4-2 at MTSU (6-7, 3-2 CUSA) on Sunday. "It was a tale of two halves for us," HC Chris Cahill said. "We didn't play our best half to start and MTSU took advantage of it. The second half, we put in a grittier performance and clawed our way back to challenge the game but it wasn't enough.

"It's a lesson to build off of going to next weekend and I know our seniors will lead us through the week to get ready for New Mexico State."

Rivera's goals four goals over the last three games signified the most over any given three game stretch in her career. It's the most goals scored by an Owl over a three-game stretch since 2021 (Macie Rainwater).

The Aggies (7-5-2, 2-2-1 CUSA) are in 5th place in the conference just ahead of KSU. They are coming off a 2-2 tie at Liberty.
