Kennesaw State football wraps up its home schedule on Saturday when it hosts FIU on Nov. 23 at Fifth Third Stadium for Senior Day.

KSU alumnus and football Hall of Famer Chandler Burks was named the Owls’ interim head coach on Nov. 10. Burks took the reins as the Owls’ interim head coach and is in his fourth season coaching at KSU.

Kennesaw State is coming off a back-to-back heartbreaking losses in overtime, dropping a double-overtime road game to UTEP before another overtime setback last week against Sam Houston.

Saturday is Senior Day for Kennesaw State football, and the Owls will honor four seniors prior to Saturday’s kickoff -- DB/OLB Sidney Porter, LB Jalen Barnum, DB Austin White and DL Jordan Miles.

r-So. RB Qua Ashley continues to be a force in all phases, currently ranked third in Conference USA in all-purpose yards at 997.

Ashley is one of just three players in the country with more than one kickoff return touchdown on the season.

Head Football Coach Chandler Burks Press Conference Previewing FIU

Within every single game they play, it's coming down to the wire. They're taking people to overtime.

They've done a really job on defense and offense, creating a ton of explosives. Their quarterback, (Keyone) Jenkins, does a phenomenal job of being able to distribute the ball effectively. They have a really good wide receive on the outside who's leading the league right now in yards per game.

Another veteran defense, they fly around...very multiple. Within their starting 11 right now. We'll have our work cut out for us.

Owls Men's Hoops Tame Wildcats 84-78

Simeon Cottle scored a game-high 22 points while Kennesaw State used its edge on the boards and a strong night at the free throw line to hold off Abilene Christian 84-78 in men's collegiate basketball action on Wednesday night from the Convocation Center. Playing against a physical ACU defense, the Owls rallied from a halftime deficit to shoot 61.1% from the floor in the second half to improve to 4-1 on the year, tying for the best start to the season in the team's D1 era.

Fourth-Quarter Rally Falls Short at San Jose Thursday For Women's Basketball

Kennesaw State's 4th-quarter resurgence came up short against the San Jose Spartans in a hard-fought Thursday evening contest inside Provident Credit Union Center, 68-64.

The Owls (2-3) battled back from a 10-point fourth-quarter deficit to get within striking distance of the Spartans (3-2) and were one point down in the final stages before the home team managed to pull away.

Graduate Carly Hooks came off the bench and led KSU with 12 points. She was followed by sophomore Kailyn Fields who posted a career-high 11 points. Both went a combined 9-for-9 from the free throw line.

All-Conference Johnsen

Manu Johnsen picked up more awards on Wednesday, as she was named to the 2024 CUSA Volleyball All-Conference First Team, the conference office announced on Wednesday.

This is the second award in as many weeks for the junior, as she has named to the CUSA All-Academic squad as well. This is the third all-time conference recognition for Johnsen, after picking up first-team honors in the Atlantic Sun as a sophomore, and second-team as a freshman.

An outside hitter from Copenhagen, Denmark, Johnsen ranks in the top 100 in the NCAA (78th) and is third in CUSA in kills per set at 3.80, and is third in points per set at 4.36, 76th-best in the nation. She also ranks among the nation's leaders in total kills with 414, good for 38th-best, and recently became the fastest player in Owl history to reach 1,000 kills, hitting the mark in her 76th career match in a win over Sam Houston. Johnsen was key in leading the Owls to a fourth-place finish in their inaugural year in CUSA at 10-8, despite being picked seventh in the preseason poll.

CUSA Tournament Play Starts Friday for Kennesaw State Volleyball

Kennesaw State Volleyball is ready for its first-ever appearance in the Conference USA Volleyball Tournament, as the fourth-seeded Owls will face fifth-seeded Middle Tennessee in the quarterfinals on Friday at 4 p.m. (ET) in El Paso, Texas, on the campus of UTEP.

KSU surpassed all the preseason expectations in its first year as a member of CUSA, as the Owls were picked to finish seventh overall but went 10-8 in its inaugural season to clinch a fourth-place finish. Making that even more impressive was the number of injuries the Owls dealt with during the season, including multiple ACL tears.
