Making Connections in Washington

Earlier this week, County Board Supervisors Guida Brown and Sarah Kirby and I returned from the National Association of Counties' Legislative Conference in Washington, D.C.

During our trip, we networked with county officials from across the U.S. and also participated in meetings with members of our local congressional delegation.

Thank you to NACo for organizing an outstanding event!

Celebrating Black History Month

Earlier this month, I had the honor of presenting a proclamation celebrating Black History Month during the 37th Annual African American Read-In at the Kenosha Public Museum.

Thank you to all of the organizers and participants in the read-in, which drew a large crowd!

Restoring a Masterpiece

Work is progressing on the restoration of the historic Ceremonial Courtroom in the Kenosha County Courthouse — a project years in the making and supported by generous donations from the community and other benefactors.

To be completed this summer, the restoration will bring back to view a large skylight and other ornamental features that were covered by a dropped ceiling in the 1960s. It will serve as a working courtroom, as well as a community gathering place for weddings, adoptions and other momentous occasions.
