Follow the Fall Colors

Fall colors are popping in Kenosha County and across the state, and you can follow their progress with Travel Wisconsin’s Fall Color Report.

You can find this tool on the Pringle Nature Center website — and you can find plenty of colors at all of our county parks!

You can find more information on Kenosha County multi-use and hiking trails, difficulty ratings and paved pathways HERE. And, check out the trails on an interactive map by downloading the Parks App.

Drug Take Back Day is This Saturday

Kenosha County will participate in National Prescription Drug Take Back Day events at five locations this Saturday.

Don’t miss this free, convenient opportunity to make your home safer by properly disposing of unneeded prescription and over-the-counter medications. Narcan training and other Behavioral Health resources will also be available.

Nov. 3 Election Voting Now Underway

In-person absentee voting for the upcoming election began this week and will continue through Friday, Oct. 30, at municipal clerks’ offices across Kenosha County.

For those who have requested absentee ballots by mail, County Clerk Regi Waligora encourages voters to return them as soon as possible, as to avoid U.S. Postal Service delays.

Veterans Climb at Boundless Adventures Returns Oct. 28

Military veterans and their families will have the opportunity to climb for free at Boundless Adventures in Bristol Woods Park during a special event on Wednesday, Oct. 28.

The annual Veterans Climb is open to active-duty military personnel, reserve component personnel, and veterans, plus up to two guests per eligible participant. Two-hour climbing sessions in the aerial adventure park will be available from 3:30 to 10 p.m. Civilians may also pay to climb the ropes courses, with the proceeds going to Kenosha Area Vietnam Veterans.

The event will also feature light refreshments, guest speakers, and representatives from local organizations that serve veterans, providing opportunities for participants to connect with available resources and services.

Unlock Kenosha’s Architectural Gems

The Kenosha County Courthouse, with its newly restored Ceremonial Courtroom, is a participating site in the inaugural Keys to Kenosha event, a daylong, self-guided tour of notable sites in the community on Saturday, Nov. 7.

The Courthouse and the roughly 50 other Keys to Kenosha sites will be open to the public from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Encore performances of “Lovers of Liberty, an original musical composition that tells the story of the history of the Courthouse, will be held at noon and 1 p.m. I hope you’ll join me there!

“Be Drug Free and Unlock Every Possibility!”

Earlier this week, I joined Mayor David Bogdala and Sheriff David Zoerner in kicking off Red Ribbon Week in Kenosha County.

It was our honor to present a proclamation to Bradford High School freshman Julia Kemen, who submitted the winning entry in this year’s Red Ribbon Week slogan contest.

Observed nationally since 1988, Red Ribbon Week is an annual campaign to promote healthy, drug-free lifestyles for kids. Congrats to Julia for capturing that essence in her prize-winning slogan!

Italian American Person of the Year

This past Sunday, Sheriff Zoerner and I presented a proclamation honoring John Robert Alia, the Italian American Society of Kenosha’s 2026 Person of the Year.

Congratulations to John, and thank you to him for his many years of service to our community and our country!

Empowering Future Graduates

Earlier this month, I joined in the fourth-annual FAFSA summit at the University of Wisconsin-Parkside — an event aimed at strengthening strategies to encourage more students in our region to pursue higher education after high school.

This is part of a regional effort to increase college enrollment, led by Building Our Future in Kenosha County and Higher Expectations for Racine County. Both organizations are members of the StriveTogether national network, which connects communities across the country to accelerate career outcomes for young people through cradle-to-career partnerships.
