Kenosha County Connection

Kudos to the Highway Crew!

Saturday's major snowfall event put the crew to the test. But, the team was ready and up to the task!

Their skill and around-the-clock dedication to keeping our highways clear was recognized by thankful residents across the county.

Scenes from Kenosha County Tree Lighting

Thank you to our Parks Department staff for and to all who came out Sunday to celebrate with us at the 3rd Annual Kenosha County Tree Lighting Ceremony. It is always such a joy to see families making lasting memories at this annual event.

The tree — located in Petrifying Springs Park near the Biergarten — will shine bright each evening through the holiday season!

Courthouse Centennial Commemoratives

A reminder that commemorative ornaments and book celebrating the centennial of the Kenosha County Courthouse building are now available for sale during the holiday season.

An "Ovation" for a County Colleague

Congratulations to Extension Kenosha County Community Development Educator Savannah Meyers, announced recently as a Future 5 honoree at the Kenosha Area Business Alliance’s 2026 Ovation Awards.

The Future 5 awards honor outstanding young professionals, and Savannah is most certainly that.

Congratulations to all the award winners, including Business Leader of the Year Tim Neal, president of Allied Plastics in Twin Lakes.

Kenosha County is fortunate to have a thriving business community!!

On the Road to the Rural Energy Academy

I'm excited to announce that Kenosha County was selected through an application process as one of only 23 counties nationwide to take part in the Rural Energy Academy in Oregon early next week.

This learning opportunity, sponsored by the National Association of Counties, will provide key insight into issues related to solar, wind and data center projects and tours of several facilities, in addition to an opportunity for county executives to share best practices and lessons learned.

Working Together to Improve Our Environment

Representatives of the Wisconsin Wetlands Association joined me and county staff last week on a tour of the challenges that we face along the Fox River, particularly where erosion has challenged the structure of Highway W near Wilmot.

This was an extremely productive outing, in which experts offered ideas for how we might be able to mitigate erosion while enhancing the ecology of the river and its neighboring wetlands.

Engaging With Student Athletes

Earlier this month, I had the opportunity to speak to members of the University of Wisconsin-Parkside track and cross-country teams, as part of the NCAA’s Civic Engagement Day.

Thank you to these outstanding student-athletes for their participation — I with them the best of luck in the bright future that lies ahead for all of them!

Cheers to 2025!

The Kenosha County Connection newsletter will be taking a brief hiatus in accordance with election campaign period restrictions.

But first, let's celebrate all we have accomplished in Kenosha County Government in 2025!
