2019 Alumni Signature Event
The Alumni Signature CEU event was held at the Kosair Charities Community Room. The training was "Introduction to Sex Addiction and Emotional Incest" and presented by Mike Eiden, LCADC, CSW. Participants received 3 CEUs approved by KBSW and proceeds went to the Kent Endowment: I Am the Change Scholarship.

Project STAAR
This thought provoking 20-minute film depicted human trafficking from the perspective of local survivors of sex trafficking. The film was followed by an engaging discussion and dialogue with panelists: Angela Renfro, Survivor & Director, KristyLove Foundation, Dr. Lesley Harris, Dr. Jennifer Middleton and Dr. Maurice Gattis.

I have always been drawn to fighting for the underdog, so social justice and service to others really made social work a great fit for me. The diversity within the field of social work really spoke to me too. It is great that social work training gives our field the ability to work in government, mental health, schools, and my own specialty – health.

Kent students have been actively involved in the community and classroom. Learning about advocacy and policy on the state level in Frankfort, locally with Metro Louisville council and visiting with our local community agencies. Here is some of our students recent work in social justice.
