KCA 2024 ELECTION UPDATE

Dear Kentlands Residents

I am writing to apologize for some errors that were sent to you regarding the upcoming 2024 Kentlands Elections.

1 - The election packet that was recently just delivered to you was supposed to be sent at the end of August.

2 - Consequently, the Election Petition with required signatures, and the Citizen Registration Form were mailed to you with deadlines that were impossible to make.

3 - In the September Town Crier, it was published that the Candidates Forum would be on the same day as the Annual Meeting, which is October 24. This is inaccurate.

New Information

The election committee has authorized the following changes according AR-16.

1 - The Election Petition with signatures will be due by Monday, September 30th, 2024 at 5 pm. A potential candidate can submit the physical copy that was sent by mail, by submitting an electronic copy of the questionnaire (a hard copy of signatures is still required) by clicking here: https://forms.gle/rrcE4WRnJNHR3qKm9, or by printing and fill out the new form attached to this email.

2 - The Citizen Registration Form is now due by Friday, October 4th, 2024 at 5 pm. Again, you can submit the hard copy sent in the election packet or by printing the form attached to this email.

3 - The Candidates Forum is on Monday, October 21, while the Annual Meeting and October BOT meeting will be on Thursday, October 24 starting at 6 pm.

MEWS ASPHALT REPAIRS UPDATE

Rose Paving

As many may know, Rose Paving began work on September 9 without proper notice to Kentlands Management and the community.

Management in consultation with the KCA President has halted this project to allow Rose Paving to communicate better with us.

Management will provide updated communication to the community to include the following:

  • The dates & times the crew will be here
  • Where (streets/mews names)
  • Schedule of work to be performed at various locations
  • Rose Paving's anticipated completion date

Once all details are known, Management will send an update via the Kentlands Express.

LCS Paving

Due to the rainy forecast for the week beginning September 15, this project has been rescheduled to Monday, September 23. The project will continue through the following day and then, with the asphalt patching is scheduled for Wednesday, September 25.

LCS Paving will perform asphalt paving, seal coating, and digging/regrading on the mews of Kent Oaks Way and Little Quarry Rd.

Your safety is our top priority, so please plan accordingly. Do not park or plan on driving or walking in the mews of Kent Oaks Way and Little Quarry Rd. during those dates.

This tennis clinic is a two-day event. If it rains on Saturday or people can't make it, they can go on Sunday. The event is free for all Kentlands residents.

Kentlands Pickleball Court #2 & Tennis Court #3 Users

The court lights must be manually turned on by turning the timer dial under the box cover, which is affixed on the nearest pole inside the entry gate of the court. You must turn the dial clockwise and periodically check it and turn it further clockwise if you will be playing longer than the what the timer was initially set.

If the timer runs out before your playtime ends, the court lights go black and need to time to cool down and warm up before they will illuminate again. This can take at least 15 minutes.

Remember, at 9:00 p.m., the lights automatically turn off for the evening and cannot be turned back on.

Do not get caught in the dark. Take control of your plan!
