Each year, Kentucky CancerLink sends a survey to our clients to understand ways that we can improve our organization. We recently sent 500 surveys to randomly selected clients and they are already pouring in!
Here are a few of the responses so far:
"Had a follow-up colonoscopy and had 2 polyps (non-cancerous) removed. Would not have known to have procedure done if not for KCL test. Thank you for your excellent service."
**This client is referring to KCL's take-home colon cancer screening kit. If there is a positive result, we encourage clients to speak with their physician about the need for colonoscopy. This is a no-cost screening that we provide for Kentuckians 50 and over (45 and over African American) and if there has not been a colonoscopy in 5 years.
"I really appreciated all of the help that I had from Kentucky CancerLink and the gas cards was such a blessing for me because it helped out with the gas for trips back and forth to my appointments."
**KCL clients in need of transportation receive (4) $25 gas cards per year while they're in treatment. Transportation assistance is our number one request. If they are in the Lexington or Louisville area, we are able to provide free taxi rides.
"I truly appreciate the KCL program. I wouldn't have been able to have my mammogram. Thank you!"
**KCL works with Community Partners to provide no-cost screening mammograms. Mamm's Day Out is a quarterly Saturday screening event at Markey Cancer Center. Additionally, Yes Mamm! (KentuckyOne Health) is a Monday-Friday screening mammogram program. Must be 40 and over. Contact Kentucky CancerLink for appointment, 859.309.1700.
