NCBA Region 1 Meeting

KCA was honored to be the host state for this year‘s NCBA’s Region 1 meeting. This week, State Cattlemen’s Association’s and State Beef Council’s from Region 1 gathered together with our regional leadership to network and learn from one another!

Established in 2007, the Heifer Initiative Award has helped youth across Kentucky purchase a heifer to begin or grow their own herd. In 2011, KCA was honored to gain Farm Credit Mid America as a partner to ensure the continuation of this program and grow the interest of the cattle industry for the many students who apply. One winner is selected in each age division based on their applications and responses to questions asked pertaining to the beef industry. Each of the three winners receive up to $2,000 to purchase a heifer from a Kentucky Cattlemen’s Association member.

Membership in the Kentucky Cattlemen’s Association is open to any individual or organization that has an interest in the cattle industry of Kentucky. KCA’s funding is generated partly by voluntary dues paid by the over 11,000 members belonging to KCA. There are 99 Cattlemen’s Association Chapters that represent beef producers across the state and serve as a link between local associations and KCA.
