Kentucky Downs to Host 20 Stakes Worth $25.75M

The 2026 Kentucky Downs meet will feature 20 stakes races with $25.75 million in total purses. The seven-day racing season opens on Saturday, August 29, and continues on August 30, September 3, September 5-7, and September 9, offering stakes action every date.

The American Farrier's Association exists to further the professional development of farriers, to provide leadership and resources for the benefit of the farrier industry, and to improve the welfare of the horse through continuing farrier education. The AFA serves as an advocate for farriers in relations with veterinarians, breed and sport associations, and state and federal government agencies.

Germany Takes Team Gold at Dressage World Championships

The first national anthem of the 2026 FEI World Championships in Aachen was played for the host nation Wednesday, as Germany claimed team gold in the Grand Prix on a total score of 235.063%.

Meet War Fighter!

2018 16.1h Thoroughbred Gelding

"Wario" is an incredibly smart and smooth gelding, with 3 lovely floating gaits and a great personality. He is currently barefoot, stands great to be groomed and bathed, and is great in turnout with others. He has been ridden in the rain, and was not phased at all. He has been introduced to poles and small cross rails, and he loved it! We think he could excel as a show jumper, eventer, fox hunter, or pony club mount. We recently put him in western tack, and he really enjoyed it, so we could also see him going that route with any western discipline!

What is the Kentucky Horse Council?

The Kentucky Horse Council (KHC) is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization dedicated to the protection and development of the Kentucky equine community through education and leadership.

The KHC provides educational programs like large animal emergency rescue training and livestock investigation training; personal liability insurance through individual and family memberships; and financial assistance programs for horse owners in need through the Save Our Horses (SOHO) fund.

The specialty Kentucky Horse Council license plate, which features a foal lying in the grass, provides the primary source of revenue for KHC programming.
