Kentucky State Fair School Tour Offering

Even though the Kentucky State Fair has begun, we wanted to make you aware of an educational opportunity available for your students if they are visiting this week.
Passport/Informational Scavenger Hunt

Once you arrive at the fairgrounds, visit the Kentucky Proud/Kentucky Department of Agriculture booth in South Wing A. You will be directed toward the Mobile Science Activity Center. Students will receive a cinch sack backpack and a passport and pencil. Teachers will receive the answer key and some additional resource materials.

We also hope that you will take a look at our companion educational activities at https://www.teachkyag.org/lessons/companion-lesson-for-visiting-the-kentucky-state-fair.

The additional information provided in this email relates to other educational programs from our supporters and partners. If you would like to receive future email newsletters, please reply and we will put you on our regular distribution list.

Look for the giant map of Kentucky!
On the last Friday of the fair, we will post a challenge on our Facebook and Instagram pages, where a lucky school will have the opportunity to win the giant map of Kentucky. It is 30-feet long!

A year-long FREE experience
in your classroom

Forget the guinea pig. How about adopting a 100-pound dairy calf for your classroom mascot by joining the Adopt A Cow program? Don’t worry about finding a pen big enough to hold her. The photos and stories we’ll send you about her life on the farm will make her “come alive” for your students! The best part? It is FREE! Sign up through September 15.
There's a Pig in My Classroom
is back by popular demand!

Hosted by the Indiana State Fairgrounds & Event Center and sponsored by the LEAP Foundation and the Kentucky Pork Producers Association, There’s a Pig in My Classroom is a 45-minute, live, virtual program designed to teach students in grades 3-6 where and how pork gets to their plate. Students will learn about how pigs are raised on the farm, production terminology, and purchasing pork in the grocery store (Life Sciences, Consumerism, Careers).

Fall 2022 Dates: September 20-22 * October 11-13 * November 15-17

We had about 1,400 Kentucky students participate in this program last year with rave reviews!
