Empowering Dreams, Building Futures

6.24.26

Dear Friends:

Yes, there is the promise of an abundant crop growing in the newly planted

gardens. Yet, KVEO continues to provide funds to supplement the dietary

needs of the Shitungu village families because of soaring oil prices that

have increased the cost of food around the world. Kenya and Shitungu

are not spared.

The cost of even the staple food, cornmeal, has risen drastically. Our Zero

Hunger project is needed more than ever.

Here are photos of some of the residents next to basic food supplies that

KVEO’s funding recently provided; and a glimpse of a family enjoying

dinner.

Thank you for your continued support.

Budding Artist

KVEO has been providing funds for basic art supplies and instruction to

the villagers of all ages. This creative outlet has been received with enthusiasm and wonderful results. The opportunity of self expression is a

gift to the artists and to us, the viewer.

Peter Otiero is a young artist represented on the online Shitungu Gallery.

His creativity offers us a glimpse into his his very special world view.

SAFARI

In July, five American friends of KVEO will be joining me on a visit to

Shitungu for two days. During our visit, we will have the joyful experience

of actually talking with community members, eating together, playing with

the children and dancing together.

This visit will give us a unique opportunity to see the homes, gardens and

work projects. I look forward to learning more details about the soap

production, the quarry and the many growing income generating projects

that are in play. During this visit, we will also include time to discuss plans

for the future.

Each project brings everyone closer to self-sufficiency and fuller lives.

All of this exciting news and some of the wonders of Kenya will be shared

in the July updated letter.

Do Good: We thank you for your support of KVEO and making sure that the villagers of Shitungu continue on the path toward self sufficiency. Donate KVEO.org
