Hello everyone,
We will be closing the bookstore for
in-store shopping
at 5pm today, moving to a limited customer service schedule. Beginning tomorrow (3/16/20), we will only be taking phone and online orders that will be available for pick-up between 10am-2pm daily. Even during these limited hours you will not be able to browse inside the bookstore. We will miss the elbow bumps, in-person conversations, and giving treats to your dogs!
We know that books are important and reading can be a source of connection and escape during difficult times. Therefore, we will remain available to you from a distance. Specifically:
- Our online bookstore will be open 24/7. You can browse books, check if we have a book in stock, pre-pay for books you would like to pick up, or get them shipped to you.
- Our phone lines will be open from 10am to 2pm. Please call us at (650) 324-4321 and press 1 to speak with one of our booksellers and get recommendations or order books for pick-up or delivery.
- All pickups for pre-paid orders will be curbside only starting Monday, March 16. Orders can be picked up at the back of the bookstore on Merrill Street or in the downstairs garage next to the elevator.
If you are in a high risk category and can’t afford to pay our normal shipping charges, we will be happy to waive them for you – just let us know by adding a comment in the notes field of your online order or by informing your bookseller over the phone.
We are taking these steps to encourage and promote proactive social distancing in our community, in light of the evolving situation with Coronavirus and
new directives from San Mateo County Health Department
.
We think it is critical that we come together (metaphorically) as a community to take immediate steps to protect those at greatest risk.
As a small community-serving organization, we are doing our best to prioritize the health and well-being of our staff and our community. These are unprecedented times. As always, your support has been the backbone of Kepler's story. You can continue to support us by making a
tax-deductible donation to our non-profit Kepler’s Literary Foundation
.
Your support will help us keep our staff employed so they continue to get paid for what they love to do.
Keep calm, keep reading, keep connecting! We are all in this together. And we are looking forward to normal times.
Please don’t hesitate to get in touch if you have any questions or suggestions.
In solidarity,
Praveen Madan and the staff of Kepler’s Books and Kepler’s Literary Foundation
