Official Popcorn Fundraiser Newsletter of the
Cradle of Liberty Council, BSA
VOLUME 5 | September 13, 2018
You're receiving this newsletter because your unit has signed-up to participate in the Popcorn Fundraiser this year or in previous years. If you are no longer involved and don't want to receive the Kernel Connection, please scroll to the bottom of this email to update your profile or unsubscribe. Please note that if you unsubscribe, you will no longer receive any communications through the council's Constant Contact account.

Thank you for all you do to help fund Scouting Adventures!
Order #2 Deadline is Tomorrow, September 14
Time is running out to place Order #2. Please visit the Popcorn System to place your unit's order today.

Place Order #2 for your unit if you:
  • are starting your sales and have not received any popcorn yet.
  • wish to order chocolate items.
  • previously received popcorn, but need to replenish certain items.

All items will be available in this order, including Chocolatey Caramel Crunch and the Chocolate Lover's Collection Tin.

PLEASE NOTE: Due to the inability to check the melted condition of the Chocolate Lover's Tin, this item is NOT returnable at the end of the sale. Unit orders for this item should be reserved for Take Orders or situations where the customer has already been identified. All other items can be returned (if undamaged) at the Rebalance Day in October.

Popcorn will be available for pickup the morning of Saturday, September 29 at locations around the council. Confirmed pick-up locations for units will be published after the window to place Order #2 has closed. The tentative list is below:

  • Keystone First, Philadelphia:
  • Conestoga
  • Minquas
  • Triune
  • Central Schwenkfelder Church, Lansdale:
  • Continental
  • General Nash
  • Firestone Scouting Resource Center, Wayne:
  • Constellation
  • Lafayette
  • Read’s Moving Systems, Hatboro:
  • Baden-Powell
  • Northern
  • Roosevelt
  • Washington
Unit-to-Unit Product Transfers
Unit-to-unit popcorn transfers can now be recorded in the Trail's End Popcorn System! We encourage units to exchange excess product to units that need it, as opposed to returning it at the end of the sale when it can no longer be sold (unlike units returning product to the council, the council cannot return product to Trail's End). Check out the link below for details.

You may also use the Product Transfer form available at colbsa.org/popcorn > Info & Resources > Documents tab. When using this method, it is the responsibility of the transferring unit to submit this form to the council.

You must use the Popcorn System or submit a hardcopy form when exchanging product, otherwise we have no way of knowing that your unit invoice needs to be adjusted.

Don't forget to use the council popcorn Facebook group to post product your unit needs or would like to transfer.
New Scout Champions Program
Scouts who sell $1,000 or more (including online sales!) will get an invite to a special Dave & Buster's Experience! The event is tentatively scheduled for January 2019. Scouts selling $1,500 or more will also receive Amazon gift cards.

In order to qualify, Scouts (or parent of) are required to register a Trails-End.com account so the unit coordinator can enter face-to-face sale amounts in the Trail’s End Scout tracking system. Watch the instructional video here.
Wawa "Lottery" Results
We're currently working to fulfill additional unit requests and fill any remaining slots so the final Wawa schedule can be published (this shouldn't change locations already assigned). The updated schedule will be posted by September 14 at colbsa.org/popcorn > click the Wawa & SEPTA tab under Info & Resources.
Show & Sells at SEPTA Stations
Through a partnership with SEPTA, our Scouts are able to sell at a select number of SEPTA stations in our area through October 21. The list of stations is available at colbsa.org/popcorn > click the Wawa & SEPTA tab under Info & Resources.

If your unit would like to sell popcorn at one of these locations, please email your request to  popcorn@colbsa.org with the date(s) and station(s) you are requesting. If approved (the date/location is not already spoken for) you will receive a copy of the SEPTA permit that must be displayed while Scouts are selling. Check out the website for more info.
